Using the slapaphone, an instrument that can be created and played using nothing but the same PVC pipes we use every day for our plumbing, for the Mario movie was a nice artistic flourish in what could easily have been expected to be a paint-by-numbers, soulless rendering of a fantasy world that is mainly enjoyed by an audience of children who aren't yet able to appreciate such nuances. It's always nice to see a hint of the creativity of artists shine through despite working in a field which is well known to be saturated with crunchy deadlines and overbearing corporate interests. A round of applause for the people who put effort into making children's films with an eye for detail such that they can be enjoyed well into adulthood.

@@WatsonDynamite In all honesty, yeah I haven't watched the movie myself, I took the title of this video to mean that these instruments were used in the scores of the movies mentioned. It's a little sad to hear that the creative genius of using a pipe instrument for what is probably the only plumbing themed entertainment franchise on the planet, wasn't spawned from within said franchise. Here I was giving Hollywood a crumb of praise, should have known better really.

Omg, the euphonic array immediately gave me flashbacks to a videogame I played as a kid called Summoner. There was a temple in the main city that when you entered a very peaceful theme played. I'm not positive if this instrument was used, or just an effect was added that made it sound similar, but the sound is uncanny and hit me with such instant nostalgia and serotonin 😊

Newly has a VERY distinctive composing style based largely on his own singing style and vocal range. It's NEVER hard to identify a Newly Song.
