Are Smart Lipo batteries like these New Gens Ace worth it? I think they are perfect for newcomers to the hobby and once they feel comfortable around Lipo's they can move over to a manual charger if required. But what do you think? 😎

Deffo not worth it in my opinion. Leads users into a false sense of security thinking smart lipos can not catch fire. what happens when you mush the chip in the balance lead, lost count the number of balance plugs we have killed and i have had to replace. Its pretty hard to get the setting on most modern chargers wrong anyway. Can change any lipo into a smart one if needed using the ISDT Batt Air devices. Does kind of scare me to think people will just put these away fully charged, how many days to wait till it starts to discharge and then how many days until its down below 4v

Ok. So I recently purchased a MJX HyperGO and an HBX 16889, I wasn't aware that the batteries on these cars could be so dangerous. Any tips for me to make sure this doesn't happen to my batteries?

These batteries are so high tech

I really like the new self discharging battery packs, I hope the whole battery industry goes this way because its much safer. No matter how much we try, even the best of us hobbyists don't always take care of our batteries properly. Being that they are the single most volitile item we use, that's not great. I hope that a higher density, safe, non volitile battery will be created but until then, I think smart batteries are the interim solution until then. Much safer especially for beginners because lipo battery charging and maintenance is a bit overwhelming for a lot of newbies. Looks like a solid product, great review and video brother! 💯 🤜 🤛 🔥 🔥 ⚡ ⚡ 😁 👍

Hey, Ricky! I agree with you on Arrma shocks. For someone new to the hobby they're fine. However, for me, they're rubbish. When I bought my Typhon 3S, the very fisrt thing I did after unboxing was change out the shocks to progressive big bore shocks. I left everything else stock. It made for a first run that was immediately enjoyable. I know you're fond of KST, but you can purchase the exact same internals in a plastic case for less than half of the cost of KST. Just sayin'. Cheers!

I'm new to the hobby this year and the hardest thing at the start was understanding batterys. But if i had one of these i would have been sorted BUT...I also wouldn't have bothered learning about them. I find learning how to combine a new motor with a new esc hard to understand. Like all the 60a esc or 120a esc with what pinion and what amp servo, what kv should i go for. Volts and Amps and matching escs to motors to servos to gears all fly right over my head. But learning slowly lol

'RC Expained' has a ton of videos explaining everything, in detail, that you mentioned. I highly recommend his channel. Cheers!

Oh yes, the batteries. I feel they're kind of gimmicky, but as you say, probably good for someone new to the hobby. The automatic storage feature is excellent as many people don't put their batteries in storage mode and have serious problems later and wonder why.

An all in one charge and balance lead is a much better option like Traxxas have, unfortunately they have a patent on that and put it on old tech batteries and charge a crazy price for them especially here in the UK
@beyondRC Жыл бұрын
I would never pay for traxxas batteries. You can get way better for the money higher capacity and better performance. They are a total rip off

No its really not.

@@nikolajc7617 there is no reason to not balance charge a lipo battery so I don't see the need for two plugs, I'm sure a better solution could be come up with that what Traxxas have though

@@nikolajc7617 the usual way dude the chip section sits underneath and doesn’t impact the balance plug.

@@nikolajc7617 haha it’s a different plug man but it works it’s just a normal balance plug with a extra connection. Check my community posts later I’ll post a pic 😂

yeah $60 is not a bad price when you get it free but for to mere peasants it's a lot of money especially when you can get 3 of our kinds of batteries for that price besides, you made it trough ok with regular lipo's as did I and everybody else and think beginners would be better served by all the extra track time they'll get out of having 3 times as many batteries. Learning to handle lipo's is part of being an RC'r with that said i guess smart batteries would be good for those morons who think launching rc cars off of roofs and skate park ramps is what rc cars are for......

Can you send me a link to 3x 5000mah+ 2s Lipos for $60? I'm not forcing people to buy them. They are good for some people not so good for others.. its down to people to make their own mind up if they see a need for the smart features or not.
