I've actually played there a couple times. It's been a couple years though and the course has actually been resurfaced since then. On hole two, an old bicycle used to be there with the back wheel sitting in the gap. On a side note, the last time I played there, I pulled off an insane trick shot on hole 9 since the carpet was loose and kept rolling up from the wind. I got the ball trapped against the edge of the platform and launched it right into the hole over the rolled up carpet.

in case you didnt know, The Beacon is a one of a kind place that is known worldwide. people in germany tried to copy it but couldnt. an old man that worked there before he died would take your order and would not write it down. he would yell out "Call IT!" and the cooks and preps would listen and fix your plate.

I can see why you'd have difficulty using a real putter, Brooks, since you don't normally use them on the various courses you've played. The one you had was specifically designed to assist you in lining up your shot with the hole (that's what the lines on the reverse side were for). That kind of putter can also help you when using traditional ones since you get a feel for how a ball is going to break on a green. I love themed courses.

idk I felt like looking at it, the 'top' of the heart formed a natural ramp where Brooks eventually got his ball up - maybe the challenge is just to get it to that spot and you're not supposed to be able to go up at the sides of the heart.

@@bobblebardsley Getting the ball over the sides of the heart is doable. The key is to get the ball to stop against the side and pop it up in the air by hitting the bottom of the ball to lift it. I've done it over the rolled up carpet and it landed right in the hole. Sometimes it's the only way to get the ball up on the platform.

Hole 9: If your ball rolls off the heart, take a 1 stroke penalty and place it on the heart since the sides aren't sloped enough to allow you to hit it up off the bottom... I.e.: treat the area at the bottom of the heart as if your ball had dropped into a water hazard...

This course, while nice use of public land, was not very well thought out. They should have hired you guys to design it!!!! Absolutely no risk/reward. Hole 9 is silly. Who designed that one!
