Agreed as well, Otis series 1 fixtures, and really most elevator fixtures from the late 80s, thought the 90s and into the 2000s, were always unique. That seems to have been the age of braille-wrapped white square buttons, and often interestingly shaped panels or indicators, at least for North America. (Also think Dover Impulse, Montgomery Vector, Schindler MT/HT.) Honestly though, I tend to prefer Dover Impulse fixtures, because I usually prefer buttons that click, press in really far, or both. In this respect, I prefer the new series M2 fixtures. Certainly better than the MAD VR buttons with the blue halo that TKE seems to use lately. Those feel like pressing a rock!

No wonder why it took so long for them to get locked off. It's because they were looking for the stupid smart lock activation.

I'm actually staying in this hotel right now, yes the elevators are indeed Smart Carded, but you can still go up to 42 without a keycard. And while staying here, I did request to be on the highest floor available, and I got a room on the 42nd floor which is still close enough to the top. And if you REALLY want to go to the 47th floor, there's a couple of other elevator enthusiasts who have come here, stayed here and gotten key cards to the 47th floor with permission from hotel staff. I attempted this too, but unfortunately I got denied (probably cause I'm older than those enthusiasts in question), but the staff was nice about it and they put me on a high floor room when I asked for it so I'm still happy. Unfortunately, Atlanta is not as safe as it used to be, and this hotel has had issues with people committing suicide on the upper floors of the hotel, so it's not surprising that they did this. But I do want to inform you that even though the elevators may be Smart Carded now, the staff here and still very warm and friendly, and I know a couple people have also gotten tours of the machine rooms and service elevators recently too. (I'm not gonna attempt to do that this trip as I already got my service elevator tour back in 2016)
