During this ATV trip in Colorado we explored multiple trails and parks including the Devils Punch bowl/ Crystal Mill, Alpine Loop, Napoleon Pass, Taylor park, Tin Cup, ect..... Enjoy

This is a great video Atwood, not sure if your from Colorado, I am. I'm not a Liberal tree hugger, but I did see people in OHV's and UTV's off the trails. I believe in preserving our right to ride 4X4's, ATV's and UTV's in Colorado mountains, honestly you should have edited those off trail scenes out of your video. It may not be you in the other vehicles but it gives us a black eye for the tree huggers. Stay the trail and tread lightly Atwood. Happy trails! As far as the mines go, if it doesn't say no trespassing then we all take our lives in our own hands, we do that four wheeling anyway, explore!

Thank you for the respectful reply, as i've had some pretty bashful people on here. 4 years ago this was our first trip to Colorado with our side by sides. Since then we have learned how wrong it is to go off the trail with our units. So that will not be a problem from us anymore and I apologize for that! Besides that thank you for watching

Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I can't describe all the good memories I have from Taylor Park and many other places I have rode in Colorado. This video was inspiration to go back and I try to do that every year. I have Thousands of miles of off road adventures there and still many places I want to explore. Never got tired of it, even after more than 30 years since my first trail ride. Thanks for the video. It was great!

I rode Scholfield pass in the late 70's on a 1972 Yamaha DT250 Enduro. On the way back from Crested Butte after it got dark I came across some dude who tried to drive a dune buggy (VW) and never made it to halfway point. I rode the majority of the pass at night with a total stranger on the back of my bike. We made it and had some interesting stories to tell. Fond memories of living in Colorado in the GOOD DAYS. Still into dirt bikes and side by sides, in fact wife and I are heading over to Taylor this weekend but at 68 the rides have mellowed somewhat (understatement). Thanks for the memories..

Awesome vid! How was the T4 on power at that elevation? Any problems getting through on the tighter trails? I have a 2012 T4 myself.
@hunteratwood25296 жыл бұрын
Power, my T4 engine and clutch configuration was stock at the time. Our base camp was 7k feet and at that elevation, felt I lost about 25% of my power. It really fell off at 11k plus but went everywhere I asked it to go. Some of the hills at the higher elevation required a running start but not a problem. Not many tight trails out there unless you go where the majority of people don't ride but you will be fine. Bring an extra fuel filter, the dust is absolutely amazing. Coming back from ASPEN the T4 started dying, I initially thought it was the elevation but couldn't figure out why it ran fine on the way there and was dying on the way back. It barely made it back. I pulled the fuel filter out and cleaned it up the best I could, ran fine the rest of the trip. Before we left I put new brakes and bearings on it. The Honda 750 at the higher elevations really struggled and one of the razors needed new bearings halfway through the trip. The Honda Pioneer 1000 ran excellent the entire trip. Make sure you ride in to Marble on the "Devils Punchbowl" trail ride. There is a bbq restaurant in town with excellent food called "Slow Groovin BBQ", food is excellent and the owner is very hospitable.
@hunteratwood25295 жыл бұрын
Our cabins started at 7K feet and I immediately noticed the power loss, at 12K feet it struggled a lot but doable. It performed much better than the 750 Honda but not the 1000 Pioneer. I also had my unit loaded down with lots of gear, tools and people. It's extremely dusty out there and my fuel tank filter got clogged coming out of Aspen but made it back to the trailer. I have an in-line filter but it still got clogged. I pulled thee filter out back at the cabin and washed it out and it made it through the last couple days of riding. Next time I will have a better filter and bring an extra.

Great video. Did you rent from an outfitter ? Where did you start and finish ? How many days did you ATV and where did you stay each day ?
@hunteratwood25297 жыл бұрын
Thank you! and we did not rent any Atv's we all have our own units and trailer-ed them in. The majority of the video was filmed at Taylor park which is in the Gunnison National Forest. We just bought a map and drove around the place for 3 days. The other two trips that were separate from that was the Alpine Loop and the Develis punch bowl/ Crystal Mill ride. To get to the Devils punch bowl we googled it and and found a place where a lot of people park and stuff with ATV's to go drive the trail. Which starts at the far north side of the trail starting from Crested Butte area is the best I can tell you. It will take you all the way past the punch bowl and to the mill. To get to the alpine loop we just googled it and drove to there park where they have plenty of parking for people looking to riding ATV's and Ect. In all, we stayed for 7 days, and the entire time we stayed at A campground called "The 3 Rivers Resort" in Gunnison CO.

We downloaded all of our maps onto a Garmin Montana 600. When we went to Colorado for the first time we pre downloaded all the trails onto it so we wouldn't get lost and we already knew where we would be riding. The places we went ( Devils Punch bowl/ Crystal Mill, Alpine Loop, Napoleon Pass, Taylor park, Tin Cup). You can google each location pretty easy and figure out how to get there and find parking. We spent 5 days riding all these area's and you can download a map of these locations into the Garmin. The entire time we stayed in cabins at the 3 rivers resort in Gunnison Colorado we would just trailer our side by sides to where ever we would be riding for the day.

Could you get a jeep through all the places that you went?
@hunteratwood25297 жыл бұрын
The only place id recommend taking a Jeep was on the Alpine Loop. Saw a ton of stock Jeeps on it. The alpine loop is 68 miles long so needless to say it would be really hard to even explore the whole thing in one day and it has a ton of cool old mining stuff to see. Now you can get to the Crystal mill by jeep, but its a little tough and is very challenging to get to the punch bowl by Jeep. Unless you have your Jeep jacked up for trail riding. The Taylor pass to Aspen would also need a Jeep that is set up for trail riding to go down it. Take a stock jeep and your bound to break something.

Why thanks, Pro Tip: If you hover the mouse right in between the skip forward button and the video time you will see a button called "Mute" ... might help you get through the painful music on anyone's videos not just mine

@@hunteratwood2529 thanks, yes I do know where mute is but I don't want to watch in silence. I would prefer background noise over music that is against my taste as there is NO chance of me watching with undesirable music genre.

@@dwaynejones7923 Well I don't usually do this, but if you want to send me a list of your preferred music of taste ( roughly 3 or 4 songs), I can add it in there instead and re-send the video to your email because I would want you to watch. Let me know!

Looked like a great trip. Please visit this site before going out there again: www.treadlightly.org/quick-tips-for-responsible-atv-riding/ The high-elevation stuff is super-delicate, and more and more trails are getting closed because people treat them the way you have in this video. It's not an OHV park. Even one vehicle driving/parking across the tundra screws it for years, some times permanently. Also, it is illegal to enter most mine sites/buildings - also super dangerous for you. Please respect Colorado. And please don't feed the wildlife... even chipmunks. Sorry, I'm just an avid Jeeper and would love to see these trails stay open.
@hunteratwood25296 жыл бұрын
Wow, I bet you are really proud of yourself, 3500 views and you are the first to dislike the video, how special. You must live to post Libtarded tree hugging messages! First off, at no point did I ever drive one of these units, as you can see I was held against my will in the passenger seat forced to film the crime(s) of the century! Looking back I guess we did get a little excited over the snow and should have remained on the trail, momentary lapse of reason. I believe in the "Tread Lightly" theory. Jeeper? I saw hoards of Jeeps in groups of 9-10 kicking up pounds of dust at the Alpine Loop, what effect does that have on the Tundra?? Oh, we don't want to go there do we, uh, jeeps don't kick up much dust in a desert like environment ?? Your comment on off trail driving has merit, the other comments are a joke! "Don't feed the Wildlife??? Only a fool would post such a idiotic statement, that little guy walked up on us as we were eating lunch near an "illegal and dangerous" mine site lol. I would understand a stupid statement like that if we were feeding a bear or a moose or something along that line but a CHIPMUNK, REALLY??? That mine site was more like a pile of rubble and the building we entered gets entered by hundreds of people a every week and is part of Taylor Park, not at all illegal. Mines are dangerous???, thanks mom, I will be more careful next time!! Maybe you should convert your Jeep to natural gas so your not dispelling toxic waste in to the atmosphere and melting the snow.
@jeepman2216 жыл бұрын
I was just making a simple request that you follow the rules/laws so as to keep our state beautiful, and our trails open, instead of glorifying destructive trail-usage as you did so well in your video. I've seen a number of great trails closed because of destructive use similar to that in your video. I would like to continue to have access to those trails. I also understand that it's not always common sense to stay on the trail, especially above treeline. I just posted treadlightly's link in case you didn't know - as many visitors/locals alike, do not know. I never said this is an ATV-only issue, as it's definitely not, and would have suggested it just the same if you were in a Jeep. Your infantile response to someone asking you to respect our/your public lands, and private property, make you look even dumber than you look in your video.

Let me voice my opinion in here. I know I dont know either one of you, but ive been going off roading in Colorado for more than 40 years. All I can say is this. If im not tearing up Colorado with my side by side, feeding every animal I come across, or off roading nothing but purley through the Colorado tundra im not having a good time. You can find me on the following websites for my crazy adventurezzz!! Jeepman221 please go like and subscribe!! www.feedthehungrycoloradoanimals.gov www.highaltitudecoloradomudeholes.org www.whoneedscoloradoanyway.com. I hope this newly found information I am providing you might help you get away from your liberal views Jeepeman, best regards.

You were NOT just making a "Simple Request", you were making a typical arrogant ass trail snob comment. You think you are better than everyone else because you have a "Tread Lightly" decal on your Jeep. I admitted we shouldn't have not gone off the trail, my bad, but you have to try and defend yourself w/ more stupid comments. You still cant defend "Don't feed the Wildlife" and "Mines are Dangerous" statements, talk about infantile?? Your pathetic hypocrisy amazes me!!!!! If you truly want to help keep the trails open, sell your jeep and find another hobby!!!

Maybe if you would quit smoking so much weed and searching for typos in KZbin videos you could be a little more productive in life?? You should go post up signs around the trails that say “ stay off the tundra”. I’ve been there and didn’t see one sign that said stay off the tundra. Maybe with all the profits you make from selling weed you could afford to put up a few signs???? Vacationers from out of state have no idea the tundra is illegal to ride on, we certainly would respect the area but we need to know! So, “Relax Francis”, put down the weed and get out there and post up some signs, maybe next time I won’t ride on the Tundra.
