These incredible spinner dolphins are not only famous for their spinning behaviour but they also come together to form huge superpods as our Spy Dolphin & Spy Tuna soon discovered, when they encountered them.

Yes, but spinner dolphins (Stenella longirostris) in particular are thought to do so also for communication.

Other species breach (leap out of the water) and can spin, but as far as I know spinner dolphins (Stenella longirostris) are the only ones who exhibit these behaviors for communication (other species are thought to breach or spin just for fun or to remove parasites).
