My current favorite is the Travelon anti-theft packable backpack. I think it may have been featured on PH where I saw it first. It is a lightweight and portable option that can hold a decent amount of stuff and keep it all relatively organized. I was easily able to pack for a weekend with a toiletry bag and use it as a day pack while out exploring. I was able to pack three pool towels, clutch wallet, and a bunch of small items inside. The side mesh pouches held items in place as we we went on a 45 min moderate hike in 95 degrees and the straps were still comfortable. For longer hikes I'll use my padded strap covers. And when I didn't have is stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey the front zip pocket was great to hold quick grab items to keep me organized. This will be my daypack for all the typical functional features but also the security features of the slash-protect panels, RFID pocket and zipper locks. Overall I'd give this an 9.75 out of 10 for being reasonably priced, performing as promised and fitting most of my general day trips with .25 off for where the strap adjusters rub on my arms.

Great video - I noticed a different tone in the video... its nice and a little more conversational. For those of us who prefer a "dangle free experience" I never understand the use of S hooks so much. I do love the tiny locking ones however for securing small items inside my pack. I too had the same thoughts on the boxy-sharp edged Nitecore powerbank. Instead I use the Crave Plus aluminum slim power bank (10K) and it has been pretty wonderful... so much lighter than Anker and thin as a phone. You are really making me think I need to give that crystal deodorant a try though! Its a hard thought getting away from Welleda Pomegranite roll-on. It smells amazing, despite it being a liquid form.

Those crystal deodorants are potassium alum, which are also a great aftershave which also sterilized post shave. I use one prior to my balm. By its nature it is anti bacterial so you can use the same one on pits and face.

There's a V2 of that nitecore that improves the charging lights. Love those nite-ize carabiners for carrying gloves. I can clip them to my belt loop when I'm not using them and it's way more sturdy than the crappy clip that comes with most gloves too.

I will second the Nitecore NB10000. Sometimes I forget to charge my phone so I’ll just take it with me as it is so light and easily fits into my pocket. I wish the charging indicator was easier to read, but overall it’s a huge win.

@@PackHacker hmm…I don’t think so. I like the changes to the readout, and it seems to have slightly better USBC output, not a fan of the yellow borders around the ports but I see how they could be useful in the dark… Seems like a great buy if you don’t already have one, but because the charging speeds are still pretty similar and the weight/dimensions are identical, I can’t really justify spending 60 bucks on an upgrade to the gen 2. But if I need a second battery bank, I will obviously pick one up :)

Big fan of the new CAS2 sling by Evergoods. If you're ok with carrying your water this could easily replace a day pack for travel and serve as a pouch on the go in airports. The fit and function are amazing and the back panel that breathes is world class.

About the low current mode of power banks: that’s not so much to protect those devices. At least I don’t think so, because the power bank can’t actually “send” too much current to the device. Given a voltage (and USB is normally 5V) the current draw is determined by the device that is being charged. A higher resistance results a smaller current, and vice versa. What the low power mode is for, is it disables the power bank from automatically shutting down if the current draw is so low that it “thinks” it’s not charging anything. So if you are trying to charge something, but your power bank shuts down before it’s fully charged, then it can help. I suppose I should also mention we can be nerdy like this on Pack Hacker Pro. ;)

Check out the Anker Powercore 10,000 portable charger. It's by far a smaller more cost effective (got my last one for 16.99) option. Amazon's current regular price is 25.99, but it goes on sale often.

Powercore 10,000 is good, but the use of USB-A and micro USB make it undesirable (for me). Since I've managed to completely switch over to only USB-C charging and hate to have additional cords or converters, I've instead opted for the Powercore 10,000 PD Redux. You're getting the same thing, but it accommodates USB-C cables.

How are the straps on the Trakke backpack? Do you find it pulls away from the back? Thin? I walk all day, comfort is key. …Huge fan of Bairn crossbody and Largo sling - both with Cobra buckles (despite the fact I thought the sling would be too big for my short height and torso, it molds to your body). Never ventured into their backpacks.
