@@gabrielhenson5751 what about the most common bug that I've heard a lot of people experience in which whenever they attempt to kill a Reaper with a Prawn Suit by hooking on to it with the grapple & then try drilling it to death, the Reaper somehow manages to engage warp speed and wrangle/drag them literally halfway across the map somehow in a short amount of time?

I see. Well, I guess I started analyzing and comparing as soon as I saw it, my first thought of seeing it up close was “what a small mouth, it doesn’t even have teeth”. And when it attacked me it hurt for sure, but I didn’t die.. the reaper always kills you when it’s man vs reaper. I’ve never NOT been grabbed and automatically one shot by the Reaper when I’ve been outside of a vehicle, in comparison I have never died to a Ghost Leviathan and unlike the reaper I didn’t feel the discomfort of “it's going to eat me”.

I had a nasty encounter with one during one of my play throughs. I made my base on the large central underwater floating island and was in the process of installing some thermal plants. I thought the area was leviathan free when a Ghost Leviathan glitched out of the caves below and roared as it emerged from the ground. I am not ashamed to say it was the most terrifying thing that i have ever experienced in a videogame. Killing it was not fun.

The "Titan Holefish" in Subnautica Below Zero is based off of the "Ocean Sunfish" (Mola mola) and other species of Molidae as well. The "Stalker" resembles a fresh & brackish water fish called an "Alligator Gar", here's a picture of large one: i.pinimg.com/originals/95/18/dc/9518dc7b442b18408fa9b73d2d69a387.jpg The "Sea Treader Leviathan" looks like it has a crabs carapace so I thought that since it also has long legs and has its eyes on a trunk-like rod thingy, that it somewhat resembles an "Arrow Crab", here is a picture of one: live.staticflickr.com/1365/4596520194_5912bef071_z.jpg The "Reefback Leviathan" looks like a cross between some type of whale (size-wise, communication-wise, & Passiveness-wise), and some type of Ray (shape-wise & because most of its face is underneath of it). the "River Prowler" resembles the "African Glass Catfish/African Ghost Catfish", they both have see-through elongated bodies, a non-see-through head, and long whiskers (the river prowler looks like it has backwards facing whiskers at the back of its head) this is what an African Glass/Ghost Catfish looks like: www.aqua-imports.com/shop/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Glass-Catfish-1.jpg

Fun fact(s): the Dunkleosteus was not only the Apex predator of the entire ocean during its era, it had no teeth. Instead, it used its double-layered skull, giving it that well-known boney appearance, as its actual jaws. Those two front sharp parts at the front of their mouth are just part of its upper skull, and is what they used to bite down on their prey. Even this was powerful enough to crush through their armor 10X over. Occasionally, when the Dunkleosteus wasn’t chewing on its own or megaladon meat, it was crunching on stone boulders, kind of like a person chewing on a jolly rancher today. Known to be not only strong and burly, but also to be extremely stealthy. They did not have to keep moving to breathe, and could stay in one spot for hours if need be. This came in handy when hunting for prey. They’d hide in the shadows, and once they caught something in their sight, they’d practically become The Flash of the underwater, and bite straight down. Sometimes, they’d even wait for one of their own kind to attack prey first, so they could take an even bigger bite out of their brother. How did they rip that juicy flesh off though? Simple, the twisted their body around while holding on to their meal.

@@Ronnie10011 a whale is dwarfed by the leviathans in the game. The largest blue whale recorded was 29.9 meters long (98ft) and the reaper leviathan is 55 meters (180ft). Thats already practically double the size. The sea dragon is double that, at 112 meters (367ft). And even then the sea emperor dwarfs that with the official length being "160-200 meters" ( 525-656ft) A blue whale is a fucking snack for a dragon, and a good meal for a reaper. Not even close. The adult ghost is 110 meters also, so same situation as the dragon. For a good size reference Mount Everest is 29000 feet, meaning 44 sea emperors stacked facing up is the same height as mount everest. Once again no creature on earth even somewhat compares to the enormity of the creatures in subnautica. A boneshark is about a fifth of a reaper, so about 11 meters (36ft) And a great white is about 4m The enormity cannot even be compared. Nothing on earth besides literally the geology of the planet itself compares

The Reaper is a masterpiece of horror for three reasons: 1. Amazing sound design. It warns you to stay away, you know when one is near. The roar is infamous. 2. Unlike most creatures in Subnautica, the Reaper is an actual deadly threat. 3. The most overlooked reason: It immediately puts you off foot with it's human-ish angry facial features, just like the Alien from Alien.
