Epic Sturgis - Buffalo Chip & Beyond

During the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 2020 Buffalo Chip is has the most entertainment of any of the major campgrounds. However it is worth checking out some of the other campgrounds such as Pappy Hoel, Glencoe, The iron horse, and Ride and Rest. Some of the other places in The Black Hills to check out are: The town of Custer, Deadwood , Spearfish, Hot Springs, and Rapid City. You can see Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore National Monuments. There are lots of establishments to come in park your bike and listen to live music while you check out all of the custom rides. Loud American, The Knuckle and One Eyed Jacks are the most popular places downtown. The stunt bike riders are a lot of fun to watch doing wheelies and burnouts all while narrowly missing each other as they zoom by. Buffalo chip has a swimming hole in the middle of the campground complete with a slip and slide, rope swing, tanning deck, bar, main stage and contests for people to enter. It is just a short walk to the main arena where there are vendors, stores, live music and more.

It's a waste of more & more very precious fuel which is needed for traveling, unnecessarily producing too much pollution by burning fuel, rubbing tyres on the road without any reason & creating pollution. Where there are many developing countries there are poor peoples collecting naturally dry & fallen down small sticks or branches of trees, grass and used to cook their food but EU countries are blaming that they are polluting the global environment. I've been 8 times in 10 years. Love the chip but 2020 sucked. Chip gave into covid crap. Closed the flush toilets. Didn't clean the portables. Bad bands, only half the venders there. Then I was riding got stopped at Cheyenne res wouldn't let me cross, no warning had to ride 80 miles around. I'll take couple years off.

I live on one of the main highways leading into the Hills and Mt Rushmore. Bikers tend to ride in groups. I can have up to 30+ bikers going by at once. Incredible noise. For a timeline of 3 weeks all I can hear is the roar of bikes usually from 8a to 10:30p. I don’t mind. What is funny is how many are now old men. Don’t let them fool you. They fly into Rapid City and their bikes are brought in via semi transport company. Suddenly suits and ties are gone replace with boots, jeans and vest. Gals arrive in white slacks with tank top and sandals with suitcase full of bikinis. It truly is a ritual. Over 500,000+ bikers come into the area each year along with wallets and purses. We love that part.
