I want to see an ACTUAL STORY that takes place in PRESENT TIME. 😒😣 The idea of having to find "memories" and seeing flashbacks was a neat concept but it just didn't feel like it had ANY level of substance or narrative depth. 😕 Like we just never see Link and Zelda going through an "arc" during the course of the game as they overcome challenges together, interact with people that they get to meet along the way and *develop* their characters as the story develops alongside them kinda like Link and Midna do in Twilight Princess. I DEEPLY hope that with BotW 2 Nintendo will go "back to basics" regarding the story of the game otherwise i'll be just as emotionally detached and dissapointed as with BotW. 😧

A lot of people hate Revali, but I kind of like his character to be honest. Yes, a lot of what he says can come off as rude (and to be fair it mostly is) but I don't think it's just cockiness, all his life he's gotten nothing but praise and people telling him how good he is at everything. And then he meets a Knight (who's presumably younger than him, at least I think so) who pretty much outshines him at everything but flying. xD It's a huge bruise to his ego and he simply doesn't know how to deal with it, and by reading his diary you see he does respect Link in his own weird way, and he does try to talk to him but Link is dealing with his own crap at the time so he stays silent (I think this is the first game where his silence is actually explained, not to mention actually part of the lore, well done Nintendo. ;o) so Link doesn't reciprocate. And after trying to set his ego aside and talking to Link, and Link pretty much ignoring him, he's set back to his cocky self trying to provoke Link into fighting him, and when that doesn't work he just flies off. I honestly think this is one of the most fleshed out characters in the whole Zelda series, aside from Zelda of course, but sadly a lot of people take his character the wrong way and can't stand him. ** All of this is my opinion of course, I could very well be wrong, but I think that's how they intended his character to be. ** Edit: Also; I kind of wish Link had a journal to be honest, it's explained in the game why he's so silent and only really talks when he needs to, it seems to be a person like that has more need than anyone for an escape (like a journal...) to express his emotions. I'm actually kind of disappointed that there wasn't one.

Interesting, never saw it that way. I just felt Ravali was just another egotistical prick that could never understand others he saw beneath him or saw things in another point of view. Probably what tick me off about him was his personality reminding me of a lot of people I disliked. Then your comment about what was going on in Link's mind and how his focus on only that issue while no taking note of anyone else around him. Made a lot of sense. That said I wonder what made Link go silent. Mipha even points out to it very loud and clear in her diary. Maybe there was another trial or issue Link had to face when he first acquired the Master Sword... oh! Maybe he fought his Shadow? Hahahaha that would be a neat idea. Well this was a DLC that was nice, fun, and optional.

I don't think it's a missed opportunity. I think one of the appeals of the game is that we want to know everything that happened in the past, kinda like Link since he doesn't remember anything. So, it lets the player sympathize with Link more. Well at least that's what I think.

Something said in Mipha's diary felt very sad to me. How when Mipha saw Link again after so long, he barely spoke or smiled anymore. To see a dear friend change so drastically after not seeing them for a while can be hard to cope with. As well as for Link, it makes me wonder if he feels anything anymore, or if he is just numb in the course of fulfilling his duty as a knight.

i'm almost positive that the last part in Miphas diary actually did happen, it's just that she chickened out of doing it at the last moment, instead she was focussed on healing your wounds, hence the cutscene that you saw where you're both riding on the divine beast . she does however give you a "partial confession" you can see that she is slowly tripping over her words, where she simply promises to be there for you and heal your wounds no matter what, but then hints that she wants to spend more time with you after all of it's over. I suspect that she was slowly becoming aware of how Zelda also feels about you and it might've discouraged her own confession in that moment, so she kept the armour away for now and simply focussed on trying to solidify more time with you assuming (hoping) victory and that you would have all the time in the world that you need. if you want to take it a step further, she could've actually done it so that there were no emotional complications for Zelda's sake if she was right with her theory that the princess was actually in love with link as well, and simply needed to focus on her feelings to awaken her power. it would've been a lot harder if link was walking around in a suit of armour fashioned by his future fiancé XD once again our dear fish lady has taken one for the team, she was too good for this world !

I definitely enjoy the fleshed out commentary they make on Link's silence. Gives us a bit of perspective to his character along with some explanation, which is also already elaborated on in Zelda's diary in Hyrule castle. Link just feels that with so many eyes on him and so much at stake, he feels it necessary to stay strong and to silently bear any burden, and doesn't want to exacerbate or instigate any type of situation - which caused to stop outwardly expressing his thoughts and feelings.

It's kind of too bad that Link himself doesn't have a diary. It would be nice to know what he was thinking during his time training to be the hero, and his time as Zelda's appointed knight. I think that would prompt back some memories that would give us a little more insight about Link's backstory.

He does have one. The adventure log in the Japanese version of the game IS his diary. He actually made personal commentary about the different quests and side quests, etc.
