Ahsoka, Padmé, Hera, Sabine, Leia, Jyn Erso, Bo Katan, Asajj Ventress, Mara Jade, Shaak Ti, Cara Dune, Aayla Secura, Cere Junda, Merrin, Darth Talon, etc. are all perfect examples of great female characters. It has *nothing* to do with sexism. Rey just sucks as a character. She trained for *one year* and managed to kill one of the most powerful Sith ever to exist because she had two lightsabers. Ahsoka is my favorite character and as powerful as she is, she's no where near able to take down Palpatine even with her DECADES of training.

The whole point of Rey’s arc in the Sequel Trilogy is that she is always searching for her family and for a sense of belonging. When she finally founds out that all she has left is Palpatine and thats where her power and “her place in this story” comes from, that gives her a compelling character dilemma. In the end, she refuses to be defined by her bloodline, and rises up against him. He tried to possess her body as a vessel and had her parents killed. Yet it was Leia and Luke who trained and nurtured her. Han who took her under his wing. Ben Solo who came to save her and loved her. “Some things are stronger than blood”. By taking on the name Skywalker, she’s renouncing the legacy of a hateful man in favour of the people who treated her like family. By taking on the name Skywalker, she’s keeping the name of an important but controversial family line alive for the better. By taking on the name Skywalker, she’s giving the Skywalker family one final victory over a man who routinely destroyed their family, by converting Anakin and Ben to the dark side. Its a lot better than Luke randomly having a daughter, for the sake of purity.

Man I wanted this character ti have so much better development because deserves it! Also I can’t removers the actresses name but I though she gave a great performance, she just wasn’t given the script she deserved. Especially because I think the first in the trilogy could have been a wonderful set up for more. However Rian Johnson wanted to be “subversive” purely in the service of being subversive. So dumb. Really ruined chances for character growth. I like her being OP because my head cannon is- since no other Jedi she by default became representative of the whole light side of the force. Also palpatine daughter.

(I watched the movie, and it took her 3 tries, but still) 4:28 Kylo got shot at the beginning of the fight, and he actually tried punching himself in his wound to give him more power over the dark side. It doesn't seem like it worked (probably because he was conflicted after killing his father) 6:35 Rey is literally more powerful than Luke Skywalker, he definitely wasn't toying around with her or anything. 8:49 I don't think Rey is a Mary Sue, but yeah, this is just ridiculous. They could've shown Luke helping her pull out the rocks and people would've been happy. I haven't seen Rise of Skywalker yet.

@@zaccaeus8426 Idk I think if they made Martha jade or Meetra Surik movie people would have loved it. I think Rey would have been fine if she struggled at any point. Problem is you need to write good characters with conflicts and trails for them to over come. I feel like they made the mistake of not giving her real flaws and just lumping on powers and skill sets forgetting that overcoming weaknesses is what keeps people there. Also changing direction mid series and selling out to a Chinese market didn't help.
