Glynnis Johns, the grandmother, was a well-known actress in the 50s and 60s. She was perfect in this, delivering one of the best lines in the whole movie: "Well at least he'll have more room in this jockey shorts" out loud in the elevator 😂

One of my favorite Bill Pullman movies is the first one he was in. It’s a highly underrated movie called “Ruthless People”. His part is hilarious and Bette Midler and Danny DeVito really out did themselves in it.

Employers who try the "You're the only one without family" line to get people to work on Holidays are a huge RED flag. No one, literally NO ONE, should work for those jerks. Addendum: Volunteering to work for a holiday is one thing, being required to because you have an insensitive excuse for a human being as a boss is another ball of wax. Thankfully, my current boss closed the store for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

It's so exciting for me to see somebody actually react to this movie, it's been kind of forgotten but it's my favorite Christmas movie. I just love the Catholic family in it, they're hysterically funny to me. It's reminds me a little bit of a movie with David Duchovny in it called Return To Me, in which the old men who are the bg characters are like the most hysterically funny and beautiful part of the whole film. Anyway thank you for doing this one, it's wonderful to see somebody actually watch this one!

Bill Pullman only played a romantic lead in two movies - this and The Virginian. Sooo wish he were cast in more. Underrated! At least he is remembered for Independence Day. Most recently in The Equalizer (1 and 2)

Sandra is great at romantic comedies and in my opinion this movie is so underrrated. 2 Sandra Bullock romcoms I hope you will add to your list are Miss Congeniality and The Proposal! And if you want serious Sandra you should watch The Blind Side in which she won an Academy Award for! Happy Holidays James!

I love this film so much! I'm close to tears every time I watch it. Sandra Bullock is absolutely amazing, Bill Pullman has my heart, but in general all the actors are fantastic...the grandma is so sweet and funny. The film makes you laugh and cry and is a little romcom gem for me. If you hadn't already reacted to it, it would definitely have been on my list. Thank you 🩵

1995 is right on the cusp of cell phones becoming cheap enough that people started to carry them and use them for more than "just in case of emergency." But they still weren't *that* common either. 1998 or so seemed to be when they really exploded into the "everyone has one" to my memory.

Obviously the plot is holier than Swiss cheese, but what saves this movie from mediocrity is the fantastic dialogue and acting imho. Sandra Bullock is always a delight and Bill Pullmann is marvellous. (It’s a shame he never played a romantic lead again.) Every role, down to the smallest one is just perfectly cast. It feels like all the other characters actually have a life of their own rather than just being cheerleaders for the main plot.
