18 Wheels of Steel is a trucking simulator, not a plain old video game. You can't expect to go offroad and do all kinds of crazy stuff with the truck when you start a profile.

the map isn't detailed at all, it's literally an early version of c2c, I wish ATS made a more detailed map with streets and stuff kind of like this but much better. I remembered 18 WoS Haulin', i got it on WildGames and then finally got them on CD, which I still have. I wish ATS had so much more.

10/10 for this game. Especially for it's time. The massive amount of trucks in the game made it enjoyable, plus if you upgraded the truck it would go much faster and would brake properly. Then it would be way more fun. You just reviewed it like it was an action-shooter game or something.

But it still isn't as bad as a game where all you do is drive down tediously boring roads for hours at a time. I'll admit, CoD had become repetitive over the years, but it still has pretty good graphics, good gameplay, and interesting story lines.

Because of the graphics look, it should suit better as a PS2, GameCube or a Original Xbox game. And it's really annoying that the truck cannot break so fast, so you will run a red light a lot.

@Regendxz Yes, the early truck games were much better for many reasons, one of them being that the cops actually had to see you break the law and then catch up to you to fine you. Once you had gotten a really fast truck, you were pretty much immune to the law because you could always outrun them. Not very realistic, but much more fun.

They don't realize that in these games you must obey traffic laws, maneuver carefully, rest and stop for gas when needed, and expect to drive long distances because you are, after all, traveling from one city or state to another. These people have played Grand Theft Auto for so long, they have no patience for driving for more than a few minutes to reach a particular destination.

It's obvious you can't stand on a lane, it's difficult to drive with A and D buttons (I believe there's an option that you can drive with mouse, or a steering wheel for pc)

Buying trucks, modifying them a bit was actualy FUN !!!! But it got old when you had all of the truck drivers hired and bilions of dolars ...

I played this for like 60 hours when I got it. Loved it to bits. Sure it's been overshadowed now by Euro Truck (which is awesome) but it's still a reasonable game. It was a little crashy though.

I hate to tell you this, but you were playing this game all wrong. You were hauling double loads with the beginner truck. The weak engine of that truck wasn't able to cope with that kind of load. Your speedometer on the highway never went higher than 40 miles per hour and you were dipping down to 30 miles per hour going up hills. It never was an "Exciting" game is any way, shape, or form, but it did prepare me for playing "Desert Bus". It is quite a bit like fishing, but without the fish.

if there were a game like this open road type of thing but with street racing and stuff it might be kinda cool. granted you don't have to drive everywhere and could transport your cars to like another city or something.

There is si much more could be done to make a great trucking game. Even VIce CIty of a decade ago allowed you to get out the car / cab and walk around. These days you could have real life multi player and have CB chat with others. Drive in convoys, realistic police. Instead of trying to make the game far too big they should make it smaller but concentrate on the quality within that area. As said, anyone wanting a good trucking game try Extreme Trucking 2 Australian level.

Lolz, I made the mistake of playing the drinking game while watching this. I took a swig everytime I heard stan say, 'The Dude.' Yep, needless to say, I died! Btw, I dare all of you to play the drinking game too. Just take a swig everytime stan says, 'The Dude,' and you'll be good to go!
