Awful Playstation Games: Planet of the Apes Review

I remember buying this game at Toys R Us when I was a young lad, and being super excited to play it because of my love for the Heston movies. I also remember being completely baffled at what I was witnessing unfold on the tv screen, and not having a clue what I was doing. Traded that shit in at FuncoLand the next day, and bought Spyro the Dragon. Still don't regret that decision.

In the original PLANET OF THE APES novel by Pierre Boulle, the apes had technology comparable to 20th century Earth. The 1968 film from Franklin J. Schaffner substantially dumbed-down the apes, presumably because it'd have cost too much money to design sets that resemble modern cities but modern cities designed by apes.

It would be at least playable if there was a way to block. He does block if you're right next to an ape and you press back, but then for some reason, he will start backing up, which is when the ape will rush forward and pummel you. There's no way to just stand you ground and block.

Incorrect. The game was released as a tie-in to the 2001 Planet of the Apes film, though the plot is inspired by Pierre Boulle's 1963 novel and the 1968 film adaptation. However, the movie had many setbacks, so the game had invent much of its own material, such as incorporating elements and characters from the book and the original movie. How about you do your research before cheekily contradicting what is said in the video?

When will people realise that ALL movie based games are rushed piles of crap forced into a game by sad producers that want more money. Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a great example, you drive around waiting for the auto lock to appear before holding X for 10 minutes a level.

I watched your bid and saw you never got anywhere close to beating the first level , in combat when the apes block you hits , stop swinging your club , when the ape takes its next swing pull down on the stick and press x , presto, you now block his hit , apes only need a few hits to go down , oh and use the many doorways on that level to hide and then sneak past them , play on this game is really good , put in some time
