Great tip about marking our quilt front and back top edges for the long armer. I had not thought of that before and I’ve not had anyone else suggest it. Makes a lot of sense. I also love learning about auditioning fabric and cutting length of fabric. Thanks for another great video.

❤Picnic Quilt was fun! Using patriotic Red, White and Blue and ended up making my rows vertical and it turned up fabulous! It was easier that I sewed two of the 5”strips together then cut the five inch blocks. Working on a scrappy backing to use up yardage ❤

I used the same backing as your Heart of America on a flag quilt I just made but had 3 yards so just pieced it and it's such a fun fabric. On the picnic quilt I am not really a fan of those green stripes ( the pink ones don't bother me), but somehow they just pull your eye straight to them. Can't wait to see how it finishes.

I use a small safety pin, easier than staples.

I don’t mind the green stripe in the picnic quilt, but I would definitely use more pink stripe than green stripe. Do you have more of the yellow/gold fabrics? There seems to be more pink than yellow. I like the way the pink contrasts with the green.

I 'm afraid to say that as soon as I looked at the picnic quilt I wanted to take out the green stripe. The pink one is so so but the green to me is too strident and fights with the dark squares. That's just my opinion on what I would do if it were mine.

What about making a small quilt with the blue squares?
@jayneterry87016 ай бұрын
I'm sorry Pat but I tried your method of cutting out a chunk of the material ( I'm talking fq pieces) but it's not for me. When I have that piece of fabric out I cut my piece then continue cutting it up into 2.5" strips and 2.5" squares. Of course I cut off 1" of the selvage first...as I love them. There Always seems to be lots of fabric around lol Looking at your picnic quilt, it's a variation as the pattern has definite breaks in the pattern design that give it the modern look. Doing alterations on current clothing I've noticed the same thing. It's kind of cool. There are seams where there wouldn't traditionally have been. 💗

Instead of doing the 10" wide dino board all around, why not just use it on the top and bottom and then do the HST border from your wall quilt on the sides?

@marinaabad49956 ай бұрын
Makes sense, but a piece of paper whether stapled or safety pinnes, can still can be torn off, especially a small one. I would use a small scrap of fabric with a sharpie written "top" on it. that's more fool proof.
