I feel like this is sooo much better than the old way. Especially for the people cant walk in.

It's nice that it gives the natural setting a little breathing room from hoards of people! But of course that's easy for us to say as we were lucky and got the permit on our first try

Hmm, looks like someone either spilled their water bottle on the rocks behind you at 7:26 or "spilled their water" on a pee break since nobody was around! lol! 😆

Haha, I thought that too, but It was Kevin's water bottle

Thank you for sharing your The Wave experience. If the road is good, what kind of vehicle is needed? If dry, is there deep sand? If wet, are there places with deep ruts in mud? If I'm not lucky like you, I will hike Wire Pass instead.

Great info! I have wanted to hike The Wave for years and it is on my bucket list. I hope you got to Upper (or Lower) Antelope Canyon (which are not too far from The Wave) as well. Both are also spectacular wind and water formed natural wonders.

Thanks! We have hiked Antelope Canyon, but that was before KZbin, so there isn't a video from there

Great video and info! Regarding permits, wondering if you know...could each person in our 4-person group sign up for a permit (daily permit or advanced lottery, we plan on applying both ways), giving us more chances of success or will that disqualify our group? It is unclear on the websites whether this is allowed. Thank you!!
@TheAwkwardTourists2 жыл бұрын
I would think you would be able to do it that way. I'm not sure, but if it were me, I would give it a shot

Great video! In case we win daily lottery, how long was the safety briefing at BLM office?
@TheAwkwardTourists10 ай бұрын
Maybe 15 minutes...if even, you pick up the permit, they give you some papers that help you find the route, and then send you on your way

Very informative video! Thank you very much. I have a doubt. If you win the advance lottery, do they send you all the permits via email or you have to go and pick them up in a specific place?
@TheAwkwardTourists Жыл бұрын
pulled this off google: The lottery runs on the first day of the next month at 9 am MDT and applicants are notified of their outcome via email. The permit will be mailed out 4 to 6 weeks following the lottery by Vermilion Cliffs National Monument.

Approximately how long did walking to the wave take you each way?

Hey, shout out Eville with that shirt! To your knowledge, how difficult was it to get your permit? Is it REALLY unlikely? I'm trying to do some research and am finding conflicting articles. Going to try to apply for the 2 day one from Page in April, really hoping we can get it. I know you said 16 people a day for the 2 day one, but did it seem like every person chosen went? Stupid questions I feel like, sorry about that just really honestly planning a trip around this so I'm trying to get as much insight as possible. Great video, thank you for making this.
@TheAwkwardTourists Жыл бұрын
Well it really all depends on how many people apply. The more people that apply, the harder it is as it's a game of numbers

Infrequent water erosion and predominantly wind erosion from it blowing debris/sand/small rocks across the soft Navajo Sandstone. You even have to be careful where you step in some areas because it can break apart and erode from people walking on it, that's why there is a lottery drawing to get in because they keep the number of people down to help preserve it.

Scary a lottery simply to hike? We're is freedom?
@TheAwkwardTourists10 ай бұрын
The lottery is in order to preserve the nature of the area and keep it from being destroyed by too many people. We are happy to contribute to the conservation of such a beautiful and unique area
