The mess this game became in the third period can all be pinned on one person: the garbage ref who clearly decided he was going to let St. Louis do whatever they wanted with no penalties (until the end when he gave a token, meaningless 5 on 3 to the Wings), and yet called ridiculous things like the phantom penalty on Datsyuk and the double minor on Maltby.

Of all of the bad calls and hits/checks/fights in that third period, the steal-and-score by Datsyuk at 10:15 is the filthiest of them all.

The goal at the 6:55 mark brings up a scoring issue. Player A head-mans a pass up ice to Player B and instantly steps off the ice, replaced by Player C. Player B, after receiving that pass then skates in and scores with no one else touching the puck. Obviously, Player A gets the assist. But for plus-minus, even with that assist, Player A doesn't get the credit, and Player C, forty feet behind the puck and never interacting with anyone, gets the plus-minus stat. Right? 😄 Oh, this is hilarious. One second after I restart the video, Mickey explains and I see that I was correct. Maybe I should delete this comment??? 🤣🤣
