@ He is! This was one of my favorite episodes ever and my wife was looking askance at me laughing at the internet 😂 BTW, love the new opening and ending credits. Very cool. His story about hanging up on Mel Brooks was so hilarious because that is exactly what firemen do to each other.

In my humble opinion, Blazing Saddles is not only the funniest movie ever made, but the funniest movie that will ever be made. Nothing will ever match the sheer insanity, the complete and utter chaotic lunacy that is Blazing Saddles. Mel Brooks is a genius.

All these years later I still think this is funniest movie ever made. Slim Pickens could do anything in acting. His character in 1941 ( Hollis 'Holly' P. Wood ) Is still one of my favorites he did. I was 14 when my mom took me to see it. Just thinking about him in that role makes me laugh out loud. Then turn around and watch him in The Getaway or Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid you can see how versatile he was. Legend

So great to see Burton here! Had me the great honor of (Nearly) having him back his van over me, in the parking lot, of the Universal Amphitheater, back in ‘82-ish! Also, had a great time (Officially) meeting him about 1 & 1/2 years ago, at the Hollywood Show, in Burbank! What a fun, & great guy! All the very best to him, & you all, especially throughout the holiday season, & 2025! 😁😉😃

BURTON GILLIAM what a face! And 50 years later he still has that unique face that any director longs to find for a comedy. When I lived him Burbank I use to see him all the time walking along Chandler, he never got tired of talking to folks and signing autographs as he smiled that trademark smile. He certainly made the right decision to give up fire fighting. Burton really was the face of BLAZZING SADDLES to the world. As for FRANKIE LAINE, you can't get a better singer for starting-off any iconic western... but I saw another interview of him where he said he had no idea it was going to be a comedy until he saw the lyrics. We all know his most famous song was RAWHIDE, but how many WOW fans know that he and his wife starred in a season 3 episode -Incident On The Road To Yesterday. Daryle Ann relates he father's SLIM PICKENS response to being asked to be in Mel Brooks next western... and that's typical of the sharp humor that great character actor had. But what grabbed me the most was how good BURTON GILLIAM looks at 86, just amazing and so full of life and great recall as well as being from his shirt, the best BLAZZING SADDLES living logo you can get!

Hey Rob - What a great set of vignettes and reminiscences about Blazing Saddles from Burton and Slim’s daughter !! Plus Frankie Laine. Happy 50th -Thanks so much ! And to quote a line from that great campfire scene in Blazing Saddles: “Pfffffffffft !” PS - Terrible about the wildfires in Malibu. Stay safe !

In my mid-20's, I directed Burton Gilliam in a commercial audition at Melanie Sherwood & Assoc.'s back in the mid-80's in Hollywood. What a Prince-! He even allowed me to have a Polaroid and sign a personalized autograph for my best friend from age 12 who was a Deputy Sheriff in San Mateo County. We first saw BLAZING SADDLES in our teens and it played as the 'B' feature (back when there was always double features) supporting several other Warner Bros. films in our small coastal Northern California town. That said -- for the record, Burton Gilliam was then, and by this interview with Mr. Word still appears to be in my estimation the aforementioned 'Prince.' Thanks Rob Word & the immortal Burton Gilliam-! D.A.

Amazing interview and a a lot of people in my generation loved something different like Cheech and Chong and this movie in that category but better then everything thing the westerns could ask for it was a masterpiece the timing and the twenty year olds didn’t understand it as a take off on all westerns . VCRs weren’t out yet . Had the special directors cut it was a classic.

My older brother took me to see this movie when it came out in 1974. I was 13 at the time, my brother was 19, so he was my ticket in because you had to be with an adult to get in as a minor. Needless to say I was convinced that this was the funniest movie I’d ever seen, and I still stand by that statement!! America needs to get over itself and stop being so sensitive…

Cleavon Little was brilliant - much better choice than Richard Pryor because he was the straight man to all those yahoos. I took my grandmother to see this film because I thought it was hysterical. She hadn't been to a theatre since probably the 19830s and when I asked her afterword all she could say was, "Movies sure have changed." but she thought it was funny.

iTUNES edited out a single F Bomb into the OSCAR winning film "The French Connection" I suspect that the many F bombs in Blazing Saddles will not be edited out as Mel Brooks is part of Hollywood Royalty and can say his use of it is for some High brow purpose... it wasn't. Personally I think they should not be edited in either case... but he hypocracy annoys me.
