Wow! Ninety seven. That’s pretty good! I hope he lives ‘til at least 100. Long live Mel Brooks‼️ You can tell he’s from the Brooklyn, N.Y. area. It’s in the voice and the mannerisms. I’m from N.Y. too, Lucille Ball birth area. He’s really funny! I love how he acted out what he was telling here 😂🤣🥰‼️

As a kid, my great grandmother wouldn't allow Johnny on her TV set (she thought he was vulgar). But she went to bed early. So whenever I would visit, I would ask to sleep on the Davenport (you gotta be old to know what that is). I had to keep the volume down, but unbeknownst to my wonderful Irish great gran, I would allow Johnny in the house. I miss them both.

do you still have that Davenport? I inherited my grandmother's Chesterfield and Devonshire.
@warrenbutterfield4208
@warrenbutterfield4208 Ай бұрын
Yep, the Davenport was a couch. I think that was a brand name from Davenport Iowa I might be wrong on the locale. My father used to play with Doc Severinsen early on at that point he probably was the best trumpet player on the planet. My father was the best tuba player. My father found Johnny pretty fascinating and funny. I used to sit up late with him. Sometimes I didn't get all the jokes But I could tell they were off color. My mother thought he was vulgar also, that was how I found out what a double entendre was. My mother told me what they were doing and what they really meant, and she explained the term to me. She was pretty good with her French from ballet. Those were the great days of show business before it all went to hell. I used to tell my parents they were at the top of their professions in New York City when New York City was at its peak. New York City is absolutely dead now. If you think it's not, then you have no idea what you missed.... Democrats ruin everything they touch they don't live in a democracy they live in a demonocracy..... And they have no idea who is controlling them.

2024 and does anyone miss the Johnny Carson show? I remember staying up to watch who was going to be on and if there were good guests I paid the price the next morning getting up for school. So tired .....but genuinely entertained and going to sleep with a smile on my face. Life felt better. Rarely see that anymore with most of the talk shows these days. As Mel said Johnny genuinely listened to his guests and gave them space so they could be entertaining and he was a master at drawing things out from them. It was like you were an invited dinner guest at a private celebrity party and got to hear all these inside stories. So good to see these clips to remind me how good the show was at its finest moments. Reminds me how mediocre television is these days for the most part. Woke Corporate propaganda trying to pass as entertainment.

Wow!...Mel talked about that Yo-Yo dude, and I wonder if it was the same Filipino dude, who would show up at a neighborhood store in Seattle, back in the 1950s? His appearance at my local store was very exciting for us little, 8-12yo kids...I believe he was an official rep for "Duncan Yo-Yo" company. I am sure "our" Filipino guy was one of many reps, who would show off the latest Yo-Yos. Their premiere Yo-Yo was called The Imperial--my dad thoughtfully b ought me one for my birthday. It had like four very fake "diamonds" imbedded into it. That Yo-Yo was definitely a status symbol, for pre-teen guys to own! This is a real "memory jog" for my now 77yo brain!

Here I am watching this to hear that both of these famous men admitted to stealing. My younger brother stole from every person in our family. My one time brother-in-law taught my impressionable youngest brother how to steal from K-Mart. I hated that guy and tried to get my sister not to marry him. They divorced after four years when he came back from Viet Nam, strung out on heroin. I have never even had the urge to steal. I only say that because in my 71 years I have never understood why anyone would be so materialistic as to want something that is not theirs.
