Global Infrastructure Availability Zone: (AZ) -These zones describe data centers. - 1 or more physical data centres within a certain proximity is an availabillity zone. - Redundant Power - They are designed very high tolerant way - Availabillity zones must be made in multiples to be considered a region - 1 or more zones in one area is a region - A Region = 1 Country - When you choose to deploy your application in a region this means that your data resides inside that country - This is important for data residency and compliance Availabillity Zones make application partitioning for very high availability easy to do. - Helps with fault tolerance of power outages, natural disasters etc - AZs are physically seperated by many kms - Max

just a little correction, I believe you're trying to say that 1 region = 1 city than a country because a country would mean the entire USA for example, where a city is specific like Seattle, Washington (which is where us-east-1) is at. A country has multiple cities (regions), for example, AWS Australia (country) has 2 regions, one in Sydney and most recently Melbourne. cheers

Hello, as a rule, when we say 1 Region = 1 Country , but for Big Countries, you might have more than one region in a separate city, but for smaller Countries, it's 1 Region for the Country .. So in General, 1 Region = in the same Country .. to make sure you follow the Compliance regulations .. Please tell me if you have anymore questions .. always happy to help.
