In 1993, President Bill Clinton introduced a bill in Congress to increase taxes on the wealthy. The Republicans were all against it, the Republicans said it would destroy the economy, their arguments were almost that it would end civilization. The bill passed without any Republican votes. What happened? Because the budget deficit came down, interest rates came down because the Federal Reserve did not have to fight the extreme high budget deficits to keep inflation down. With a weaker dollar, companies could manufacture in the United States again. Net jobs created. President George H. W, Bush 2.6 million jobs gain Bill Clinton 23.3 million jobs gain George W. Bush 2.1 million jobs gain Barrack Obama 10.5 million jobs gain trump 2.8 million jobs LOST. fewer jobs than when trump came into the office of President. trump is a loser. (Covid, but why give trump a break) Joe Biden (3.5 years) 16.2 million jobs gain. President Bill Clinton raised taxes on the wealthy and had the greatest job gains of any President. George W. Bush and trump lowed taxes on the wealthy and had the worst job gains. That is the lede. It's about the Budget deficit that the United States has. Reduce interest rates by reducing the budget deficit. But trump doesn't want to tax rich people.

Let take an example: US made car worth 40.000€ before taxes, get imposed 10% import tax in Europe, on top of that 20% vat, which makes it cost 52.800€. The same EU made car worth 40.000€ would cost 48.000€ after VAT, which makes US product 4.800€ more expansive or exactly 12% more expansive than the EU competitor. On the other hand, 40.000€ EU made car gets taxed only 2.5% in the US, which makes it only 1.000€ more expensive there than its US competitor. As many US states have sales taxes below 7% or even zero, the 2.5% US import tax does not increase considerably after sales tax applied, meaning EU imposes in average 10% higher taxes on US made cars than the US does on the EU made cars. Hence, US just want to play fair game. It is actually EU that makes the trade unfair.

Another reason to decrease the number of immigrants to Europe. We don't have enough space and resources, besides the obvious difference in culture. We need a proper union: Same minimum wages, same taxes. What we have is a system that takes workers away that are needed in one country to another because of the pay difference. This cannot continue because it creates problems in some sectors and angers people. Why do you think the extreme right is growing?
