Nicely done, Aarthi! Your explanation, "The NAT gateway translates all traffic it receives such that it appears to come from itself" clearly connects the Internet-bound private subnet traffic to the 0/0 route (packets that "come from itself") that the public subnet route table directs to the IGW destination. First time I have heard the NAT gateway described this way. This seems like a good way to generally conceptualize NAT, SNAT and similar packet translation networking components and their usage in a subnet's route table. Thank you.
