Thanks for this. I like the way you showed the path of the traffic. Could you please explain how all those outbound traffic work? As they can go to 'all', does it mean they can access the internet? Even from the private subnet?

Yes the outbound traffic is enabled via a NAT gateway that is attached to the subnet. So this only allows one way traffic which means that your instance in private subnet can ping internet to download patches or upgrade packages etc. But from public internet no one can access your instance.
