I have been watching your videos,i respect your process. I was wondering for what purpose is the object you are making?

Thanks for asking. My South Bend Lathe came with a traditional "Lantern Tool Post". The lantern works and it was what my Dad taught me to use. It is surpassed by the utility and ease of use that an AXA piston type tool holder provides. The lantern has a base that engages the t slot in the cross slide. The AXA type is a universal tool post meant to adapt to many types of cross slide attachment points. It came with a mounting plate and stud to attach the AXA to a larger machine than my SB 9C. To fit the AXA to the South Bend I needed to make a t nut that slides into the t slot and is clamped in place by a draw bolt that holds the AXA. I didn't buy the special t nut required. I just modified the universal nut that came with the AXA. 😀😎
