Thank you so much for sharing your video on the GB Sharpening Stone. It is intended and excellent portable tool in maintaining the shape edge of my axes. I use it for my GB Hand Hatchet, Wildlife Hatchet, Small Forest Axe and my GB Swedish Carving axes. When used as prescribed performs and excellent in maintenance of my axes. Blessings.

It's definitely worth it. I have a lansky puck and it does a great job on my gransford bruks small forest axe as well. I think the rubber case is Great! If you tumble down a hill or drop it it won't crack in half as easy. Good video.

I like That the rubber case gives you some purchase when holding and does keep your fingers a but further out of the way, but that price is SOOO high. It's essentially the same thing as an Artic Fox that you can get for $25 less or go super cheap and get a Lansky for $7. I have had a Lansky that Ive had for years and have used it to keep my axes shaving sharp. Biggest downfall with thr Lansky is it is very thin and your fingers are dangerously close to the edge.

I use mine with water. It’s great. Convenient to carry, durable and yes, it’s expensive.

Would it damage the stone if you sprayed it with WD 40 so you could keep your stone clean? Or should you only ever use them as a dry stone?

Depends on who you ask. I've never had any trouble with using it wet or dry, or with oil but you will definitely get some different opinions if you ask the Internet.

Lansky puck works just as well and cheaper for sure. My take on the dangerous thing is if you are responsible enough to own an ax, then you should be responsible enough to maintain the tool safely. As far carrying, I carry three knives on me at all time, and a DC4. A knife is always loaded. Anyone who carries a knife, or an ax without a means of sharpening it would be like carrying a single shot firearm with one bullet. Enjoy your video's and thanks for sharing.

God's Woodsman, Can your axe be too Sharp ? same goes for survival knife ?

Yes. Edge angle is really what matters but there is something to be said about the sharpening grits. On the contrary to what ray Mears said, the more polished the edge the faster it dulls. The fine polished edge has fine tooths that wear of fast. Because they are fine the surface is smaller so it's easier to push it through material but it's not as effective in sawing motion (the reason why saws have big teething daaa). In my opinion 1000-3000 grit is the sweet spot for most tools.

If I were you I would put water or spit of your in the field on the stone to help remove metal particles that way it cuts better and longer
