An exceptional interview between two people who clearly warmed to each other. Many thanks!

Good interview. When asked about going to Buenos Aires, Allen kind of shunned the idea by saying that his wife and kids would love that. He swiftly excused himself thereafter and ended the conversation in order to play the clarinet.

¿Por qué tiene tan pocas visualizaciones esta joya despues de 14 años? Es maravilloso ver a Allen disfrutar de una entrevista.

For a change, the interviewer knows Woody's oeuvre thoroughly. One can see he's meeting one of his heroes and that he considers the situation as a 2-way conversation. And Woody seems relaxed and enjoying the whole exchange or else he would have ended the interview much sooner.

I think he's such a fan of Woody's and so excited that he's abandoned his bearings of Interviewer 101. Believe when he went back and watched this he realized what he did was fun in the conversation for him but not beneficial to the viewer. A learning experience. TV etiquette is a bit of an art, we don't realize. Besides that that whole ugly 1970's American kitschy room they were in gave me a confused moment. it was like 73 y.o. Woody traveling back in time to 1970 or something... lol

It is difficult to believe Mr. Allen when he claims he is not an intellectual and - if he had not had the luck in films - he would be driving a taxi. True, Allen is not an intellectual in the sense of a university scholar who writes in academic journals. But there is no doubt he is a highly erudite person who knows literature and philosophy, having regularly incorporated their themes in his works. The "I''m just an average American Joe" act is likely due to the fact that he hates intellectual pomposity and wishes to distance himself from it - but certainly not from the intelligent pursuit of knowledge.

If Woody can't shoot in Buenos Aires, then he's the only one in the world. I lived there recently, and folks around the world shoot there. The streets are constantly being used because they look like Paris in the twenties.

my favorite woody allen interview woody lays it on the line and lets us know he's just a middle class guy who hates to read, would rather watch a basketball game and the neurotic intellectual he plays in the movies is just the opposite of who he really is

lol this is the first time I've heard an interviewee say , "I have to go !" Extremely funny... He doesn't give a damn about your interest in his life ot Buenos Aires... Just leave him alone, he is 73 !

@lablashi I think he's just a little overexcited, in a fanboy kind of way.

It’s great when this interviewer stops talking. Unfortunately he loves to interrupt Woody Allen. Not a good trait.

Woody hasn't had a totally charmed life: he can't stay married for very long, and he had a spectularly bad break up with one of them. Then he was ripped off by his producer, Doumanian, (the terrible producer of SNL's horrible 1980 season), that meant Woody's dreams and credit was wrecked for awhile.
