Heh, thanks for the encouragement! I've only been at this since the end of May, it'll take time but I'm keen to build it up. Been good for mental health as much as sharing the hobby and all. Thanks for the kind words! -Craig

Awesome :) Hope you found this helpful! Bit of a slower pace, but Part 2 drops tomorrow and that will be the head-to-head on the rocks against the TRX-4 and the Gen 8 V2. I've been looking forward to seeing how this goes against them for ages!

Hi Craig, good to hear an Australian voice [I'm on the east coast], watched all the reviews as you mentioned it’s a good trail truck do you feel its is worth the AUD$900.00? Also how hard would it be to strip the body down of all the bits, to swap to a clear body and go with your own colour choice.
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's worth the money if you're paying full price. I've been buying some of my rigs from Aussie hobby stores who list on ebay. Every so often, ebay has a 20% off sale with some of these sellers (I understand ebay covers half and the store covers half), so you can get some mean bargains. For example, I got the Gladiator here for something like $690 from memory. If you really like the Gladiator and are prepared to try a clear body, I you'd totally be able to do that. They're a modular design and come apart simply enough. Not a cheap way to go but certainly you could achieve a brilliant, custom result if you're prepared to tackle it. But if you want a bit more customisation without having to discard some of the RTR gear in the process, the JLU kit may be for you. I have a full detail review of that rig coming in 24 hours - check it out from 11am tomorrow. May be more what you're after! Thanks for watching :)

‘The diffs have leaked oil’ There are no differentials in this car 😉 Most likely that’s just some grease from the gears or the universals.
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 жыл бұрын
Literally, that is true. Colloquially, it's easier to call them diffs rather than to say the pumpkin or the axle gears or whatever, but you're quite right. They still leaked oil though, or grease, sure. I was noting the leak so you could infer the plastic isn't a perfect seal. Not an indictment or criticism, just an observation :)

I don't know if anyone else has already asked you this, but I am dying to know... what settings are you using to print your tires? The one in this video looks really good. I am having a devil of a time figuring out how to achieve a successful print with TPU to make a set of tires. I get a few layers in and the whole thing just balls up and turns into a mess. How did you get such a good looking result?
@RCTNT
@RCTNT 2 жыл бұрын
Heh that's an excellent question. I went through 8 or 9 iterations to get my ender3 doing TPU properly. I don't have ready access to the settings right now but I can tell you I had a Swiss Micro hot end and direct drive extruder with shorter retractions. That was a big part of the puzzle. And to be clear, the tires still aren't great. I shelved that project and then started rc-tnt, so haven't made time to tinker with it more yet. I may return to it and if I find success can do a video on it. We'll see!

@@RCTNT I'm running a Prusa i3 MK3S+ with MMU2S+ with a hardened steel nozzle and it works great for most things. Even TPU. I have had pretty good results. It has taken a lot of tweaking and it's been a pretty steep learning curve, but I'm getting better. Just printed my first crawler wheel this morning. That came out pretty good too. I have a selection of wheel styles and sizes I want to try making, just to see how they turn out. I also grabbed a selection of tire models to try. Just to see how they turn out. I have no illusions about making trail worthy tires or anything like that. I just want to see if I can do it successfully. So far, my attempts have been abyssmal. Any tips you might have would be greatly appreciated.

@@elduderinolebowski5411 if they come to mind I will let you know. Short retractions are the biggest thing I can recall to say. I think I slowed it right down too. I've been considering an MK3S+ for a while now, to replace one of my enders. Hmm.

@@RCTNT The Enders are pretty good, there is no doubt. However, if you're ready to upgrade, the Prusa i3 MK3S+ is worth every penny. While it's not for everyone, the MMU2S has been really useful too. I don't regret my decision one bit. now I'm eyeballing the new big model, the Prusa XL. It's a Core XY that is much larger, but at the same time, has an optional tool changer that supports up to five compleatly separate tool heads instead of a five way feeder to a single tool head the way the MMU2S does it. It's pretty spendy, but for what it does, I don't think there's a better option on the market, certainly not at that price.

@@elduderinolebowski5411 for sure, they make good stuff. Still, I'm happy with my bigger ender as it handles 400x400x300 now. It's not perfect - auto levelling plus dual z steppers helped, but I still have an inconsistent Z and I'm considering linear rails now. I dunno, don't want to throw good money after bad! The value is there in any case, but a Prusa would be sweet for hassle free quick jobs etc etc :) Nice to have all these options!

Some droop is very very handy. Soem droop in the shocks does not mean rhat shock travel isn’t used, at all. Please do some research about suspension and shocks haha. A preload spacer doesn’t influence the speed that shocks sag dude, that the work of the oil. Preload is for setting ride height, nothing more.
