Yeah, I know stuff is gonna break and I have the donor truck here to have a parts supply.it is always a bummer when it can't last a full battery pack. I am trying to find the servo saver I have seen a bunch of the MT racers use, it is a sprung linkage instead of the traditional type. They are common for that area but not common enough to make them easy to find. Although lately all I have had time for is super fast l, frantic googling... Entirely too busy around here lately! Would love to hear how happy you are with the truck after all the upgrades.

I will do an update on it soon. I think I found out what the real problem is when I was watching all the footage back. I think the servo saver went out from all the nose rolling and some of those resulting in one of the tires tucking and rolling the truck. I think doing that over and over again may have stretched those spring clips and that last tumble was the breaking point. I am going to add the front sway bar to help prevent that nose dive roll overs and I hope that helps keep from stressing the servo saver. I got the Ryft servo saver installed and it is runnable but I am still going to pull the diffs and pack them with some thicker diff oil to stiffen them up too. It will be back out there soon!

I bet you were so excited to get your new toy out the footage of the unboxing was in real time! 😉 It is a pretty cool looking monster truck and I would have one as well. I think you are right though; Axial's fun trucks suffer from trying to be a scale truck and a basher at the same time AND meet a price point. To make something scale AND super basher tough the price would go way up just like the Losi LMT. May I make a suggestion for your project truck? You already have a Gravedigger...I think the project one should be Amish themed and called the 'Potatodigger'. You can paint the body so it looks like dirt and cover it in barns, horses and shovels with a mini Tater as the driver.
@AddamsPlayground2 жыл бұрын
Hahahahaha that sounds awesome but a little out of my painting abilities!!! 😂😂😂 I was on the fence for a long time whether to get the SMT ot an LMT. I decided the LMT is too much for the amount of time I will spend driving it and this all was majorly decided when these went on sale for such great prices. It can all be fixed and it will be back together soon. I am adding the front sway bar to it so it won't nose roll so badly. I think that may have been a reason it failed so quickly. Watching the video while editing it took a lot of nose over, wheel tucking rolls and that may have stressed it out. It was disappointing but it will get fixed and hopefully be a better truck overall.
@canuckchuck88362 жыл бұрын
@@AddamsPlayground I totally get it. The LMT is awesome if you played with it every day. The SMT is about the right price for an occasional toy. I have been eyeing one myself... I have the Ryft as well but as a kit. I just built it and and on my second run I hit a tree and bent the connecting rod for the steering. That part would almost be better if it was plastic! I am going to try to make a guard for it. I installed the SSD axle tubes just I case... I think you can make the Potatodigger happen. Just need to get a Cricut or Silhouette and some vinyl. Hi Addam, pity about the servo saver, I agree it's a poor showing after such a short first run, as you say, it's a monster truck after all! @AddamsPlayground2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mark, it was a sad little boy moment when it broke but I got the Ryft servo saver mounted tonight so that part is resolved. I will be pulling the diffs to stiffen them up and adding the front sway bar to it. I think the nose dives and roll overs from tucking that front tire may have stress out the servo saver and it eventually broke. As I was watching all of it in editing it has a bad nose dive and when you turn it can at time stuff the front tires and flip the truck. I think adding that sway bar will help prevent that and keep it from stressing it out. That and I am going to get some bigger better ones as well.

Very true, I may contact them! I am lucky to have spare parts from the extra builder's kit I got recently so it isn't a huge deal. Honestly from watching it drive both in person and from editing the video I think the front sway bar will help a lot. The truck was to nose roll badly and I think all that nose roll and flips it causes can be putting a lot of undue stress on that servo saver. So I am hopeful when adding that sway bar up front takes some of the stress off of it. Drive, break, fix, repeat.... It will always be the way of the RC driver!!!

@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
The stock servos on these are some "just enough" servos and that is somewhat normal on RTR kits. The best upgrades for these are a much tougher servo and the sway bar set for the front. Keeping the front end flatter when turning really helps you keep from tucking the front tire and flipping over.

@AddamsPlayground2 жыл бұрын
It is slower than the LMT for sure and smaller overall but not a whole lot. I got it fixed already and I will be doing some other things to get it ready for another run. I think the front end diving and rolling out a lot of stress on the servo saver and it may be why it gave up so quickly. The front end dives and rolls when letting off the throttle to turn and it tucks that outside tire and flips the truck over. I think that big twist and strain made it fail early. It will be back soon along with his built up friend!!!

Thanks, it is a great looking truck. I think I may have figured out why it broke so quickly. The front end wants to nose dive and roll really badly and occasionally it tucks a front tire and rolls over. I think the stress of that happening a few times in the grass may have stressed those springs and the tumble in the track was enough to break it. I am adding the sway bar to the front end to make it not roll so badly in hopes the new servo saver doesn't get wrecked. I ordered some different ones as well.

@@CarminesRCTipsandTricks Steve Shen recommended them to me. I can't get the ones I want so this is the route I will go with!

I have to bind it up to my good radio and grad the additional parts but probably will! The stock radio is only a two channel and I would want it on its own dedicated 3rd channel to make it easier and more useful.

Im very sad with this rig, was a xmas gift for my son and it broke 10mins in! Servo is such a poor design! No sterring now . Shame on you Axial, spent $600, and now have a sad kid.

That sucks... Did the servo saver break or was it the servo itself that failed. If it is the servo call up Horizon and see if you can get a replacement. If it is the servo saver I am not sure they will replace it but you can try. a Kimbro XL servo saver will go on it and I used the servo saver from the Ryft and it has held up. A 35kg metal gear servo from Amazon will work as a fairly tough replacement for not a lot of money!

Yeah I kind of wish I wasn't such a compulsive buyer I just hit my foot with mine and broke the stupid servo saver 5 minutes in

I know the Ryft servo saver bolts right in and is designed to a lot of abuse. It is always a risk with truck with gigantic tires but it does really suck when the first run is cut short for something silly like a busted servo saver. Hopefully you can get it back out and get it romping around and have some fun with it!
