FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: What software do you use to make your videos?
A: I use Windows Live Movie Maker to create my animations.
Q: What camera do you use?
A: The camera I use is a Canon EOS Rebel T3i.
Q: What software do you use to edit your videos?
A: All effects are done manually without the use of editing. I occasionally use Photoshop to do minor things such as color correcting certain frames.
Q: How many Frames Per Second do you use?
A: Most of my stop motions run at 0.09 - 0.06 seconds per frame.
Q: What music is in the video?
A: Music: Halo - Spartan Assault OST "Epic Evolution" by Tom Salta
Q: Where do you get your sound effects?
A: Here's a link to Sergeant Major Avery Johnson's Channel. He takes sound effects directly from the Halo games, so all the sounds are authentic! / channel
Q: How do you get figures to walk?
A: I frequently use an adhesive material called "sticky tack" whenever I am positioning a figure to walk or when I'm having trouble balancing it.
Q: How did you get so good? How do I improve?
A: The ONLY way to improve your stop motions is to continue practicing. I've been doing stop motions (off and on, mostly off) for about 3 years to get to my current capabilities.
Here (below) are a few key beginner mistakes and fixes.
1a. Light flicker - individual images' lighting doesn't match perfectly, therefore, when the pictures are played quickly together, it appears as though the stop motion is flickering.
2a. How to fix the issue:
- Close off all sources of light (especially natural light from the sun).
- Position a lamp pointing onto your stop motion set.
- Added benefit -- Lighting is a principle element of composing intriguing stop motions.
1b. Unnecessary or unwanted camera movements that cause the stop motion to appear as if it is violently shaking.
2b. How to fix the issue:
- Use a tripod to hold your capture device. A tripod also enables you to position your camera from (almost) any angle.
- If not a tripod, then tape your camera into place
- If not tape, then use a form of sticky tack or similar substance.(tape/sticky tack may damage or leave residue on certain surfaces, use your personal discretion to decide if it is necessary).
1c. Not implementing properties of physics - To make a stop motion appear real, you'll have to apply the concepts of real life to it.
2c. How to fix the issue:
- You don't need a Master's Degree in physics.
- Understand that objects accelerate and decelerate (in stop motion, this is occasionally referred to as "easy-in and easy-out)".
- An object moving slow requires MORE images and as it moves faster (hence accelerates) it needs LESS pictures. When the entity comes to a stop, slowly take more and more images until it is no longer moving.
- This is unrelated to acceleration and deceleration, but figures shouldn't perform an action that requires force without some sort of
prior action to prepare for it. For instance, if a figure jumps it shouldn't simply propel forward. First, it must bend its knees and then swing its arms backwards in order to prepare to thrust itself into the air.
If you have any other questions and things of that nature, please leave a comment below! :D

I usually shop online (such as Amazon or Ebay), or occasionally buy sets in stores at Meijer or Walmart. I only buy things that I find on sale, though. Hardly do I ever buy something at full price.

Axiology, this was superb. When I first got back into mega Bloks a few years ago, I'd search up reviews and stuff. Eventually I discovered your channel. Ever since then, you've strongly inspired me to animate. You, Mootroid, and others, have really made me get into the phase of collecting these figures and bringing them to life. The Mega fanbase is growing, because of people like you. :-) Thank You. -Brad

again another amazing stop motion. i have sort of a suggestion for a stop motion if your not already working on one could you maybe do like a up close, handgun and hand to hand type of thing, and where people get shot, theres like a small dot of clay or marker? if you do read this, thank you have a nice day
@AxiologyStudios
@AxiologyStudios 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Bingochovies! I don't have any clay to use, and I also prefer not to color marker on my figures... Would the blood effects I use in this video work? I'm planning to create a few close-quarters-combat scenes for the sake of practice when I get the chance. I can try to add a scene where someone gets disarmed or something. I'll see what I can do. :P Take care! -Dawson

Well mine is not that great but i do my best, i'm just astonished by the way you move the camera
@AxiologyStudios
@AxiologyStudios 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks again! Often times what I do is I track the movement of the figure. So, I determine a point that I want to track, then every time I move the figure, I align the camera so that it's at about the same point as part that moved. For example, if I'm tracking the helmet of a spartan, then if the spartan's head goes down, I move the camera down with it. Make sure to keep practicing! Also, watch Alan Becker's "12 Principles of Animation" series on KZbin. The video is focused on 2D animation, but the concepts apply to stop motion as well! :D -Dawson

hey Dawson nice stop motion again! it's great to see the halo stop motion community still thriving. I myself haven't made a stop motion in a while but I made a new one but I'm rusty as hell but I think it's decent overall. how have you been in general? any future plans for anything major such as I don't know prhaps a halo wars 2 strip vs spartan cuts cent remake
@AxiologyStudios
@AxiologyStudios 7 жыл бұрын
Hey James! Great to hear from you! I've been pretty good overall... I'm a bit disappointed I didn't get much done over the summer as I had planned, but, 'tis life. :P I've had some requests for Halo Wars 2 stop motions, but I don't have many resources for that era of the Halo universe. For example, if I planned to make a HW:2 stop motion, I'd need new armored brutes, banished vehicles, and probably Atriox and the other main characters. Of that list, all I have is Douglas and Jerome. One plan that I _did_ have was to create a custom Atriox figure. The official Mega Construx one looked quite lackluster. On the other end of the spectrum, I do have some plans for a story based around Halo: Reach. I know that the game isn't as popular anymore, but it's my second favorite game in Halo. Furthermore, I believe that Reach offers the most possibilities for story-telling, as there weren't many limitations at the time (i.e. The UNSC still had fleets of ships, the Covenant was around their height in terms of power, the Forerunners were still a mystery etc.). Sooooo, sorry for a long post, but I have some big plans for the future... The only problem is they're just that; _plans_. Hopefully they'll one day become a reality! Take care! -Dawson
@jmkproductions7292
@jmkproductions7292 7 жыл бұрын
likewise Dawson, I look forward to your new videos and I agree hundred percent with the buying all the new brutes and banished themed items. I also agree with the stories based around reach or the human covenant war to tell stories that's like 30 Years of war that you can create a battle or skirmish in

Would you be able to make a complete "series" on the little Red and Blue fight scene because that was pretty awesome. It would also, in my opinion, help boost your channel because people are in to this type of stuff like I am. Thanks.🌚

Thanks for the thoughtful suggestion, Creeper Sheeper! I'll probably be focusing on short stories in the near future. I have a few ideas floating around my head... I just need to find the time to turn them into stop motions. :)

It's been so long we wrote each other an email. Every time I see your work I'm amazed, and keep hope you to make one time a story driven video. Sometimes I think we could collaborate one time.. I need to finish Welcome to Alluvion first and perhaps then we can think about it, if you're interested of course.

Thanks Titan... It certainly has been a long, _long_ time since we last talked! I'm currently busy with my college courses and probably won't be able to work on stop motions again until next summer (2018)... That not to say I won't do any stop motions at all, but nothing major. In the meantime, I plan to write a short story based around a Spartan on the planet Reach from Halo. Thus far, I have a simple idea of what it'll be about, but seeing as how I've never written a story before, it's just that -- simple. Thanks for always being supportive, I've always enjoyed your stop motions (and always will!). I check KZbin comments more frequently than my email... Which, isn't something I'm proud to say. :P Regardless, you can send me an email and we can talk about collaborating one day! Take care! -Dawson

i like that you used a frabric that seems to be from some coloring & statc sheets (those white sheets that are put inside your clothes when drying them up) to make those blood and other effects. question how did you cut out the inside of the Railgun ? was it with a craving knife or an exacto-knife? i tried to cut that part off of the Railgun, but it was quite difficult.

Hi Jesus, Unfortunately, it isn't a new official Mega Construx figure. The Elite Ultra is a custom I built myself using the old style Elites and mixing it with the new(er) articulation figures. Have a wonderful day! :D -Dawson

Amazing! I'm planning on starting a stop motion channel and I have a few questions. Where do you shop to get bricks for the sets? Where do you get the trees that are in the background of your videos sometimes? Do you have any tips?
@AxiologyStudios
@AxiologyStudios 6 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you Kumiza! The pieces I use to create my sets have been accumulated over years of buy Mega Bloks sets, but I normally buy used lots off eBay as sometimes I can find good deals there. The palm trees came from old Mega Bloks Pirates of the Caribbean sets that have been long since discontinued. These sort of things can also be found on eBay. Realistically, I'd also suggest that you experiment creating your own scenery from scratch, as it's quite expensive to build large environments using blocks. Let me know if you have other questions, until then, take care! -Dawson
