I'm trying a G1 attack in my game right now, its the end of the soviets 4th turn, and although I have done sealion, I think I have made a critical error in not putting pressure on Leningrad, which allowed them to take their forces down and start to overwhelm me there, but its not too late, I have collected 86 IPCs from London and the bulk of my airforce and half of my tanks are now freed up to relieve the troops fighting in eastern Ukraine

34:00 - 11% chance Soviets hit 2 planes and 44% chance they hit 1, compared to a 33% chance that a fighter and a tac hit both infantry on the first round of rolls. That doesn't seem worth it to take out 2 infantry when those planes could fire multiple times in Moscow G6-G7. And then bringing a bomber off the UK navy and hoping for a scramble on the sub seems like it's a little too thin on the navy. Risking multiple planes shot down on G1 in Russia and in the Atlantic for 2 less infantry on the front lines when Bessarabia will be taken back easy on G2 seems like a gamble that doesn't pay for itself. What have your results been like when using this tactic?

Hi, GeneralHandGrenade! Interesting video. I have a few questions i hope you will answer :) 1. How do Japan take out the 12 infantry / 2 AAA in Russia, going from Amur and Sakha on their march to Moscow? 2. Do you think Germany can pull of a Sealion, after declaring war on Russia on G1 (having an two front battle). And with USA coming all in on Europe? 3. How would Germany defend against an aggressiv UK / USA Strategic bombing strategy. And landing of troops in Western Europe. While Russia goes hard on Finland / Norway at the same time while Germany moves inn to the Southern part of Russia? The German fleet in Baltic can not live long, when the UK goes hard on the Air offence... If i was UK seeing G1 Barbarossa, i would start building planes on UK 1, because i think Germany can't effort to build an invasion fleet (Sealion) an attack Russia at the same time... And if they do, USA will take UK back with their prepared fleet from SZ 102, wich eventually will help Russia defending against Barbarossa. Just wondering ;)

A g1 barbarossa and sea lion is not possible by any stretch. It's one or the other. As for japan in russia it's not hard as russia cant resupply those but their troops are better used elsewhere like in india in my opinion. Finally, this allied bombing strategy would be good for the germans as it would mean less boots on the ground in europe for them allowing them to focus more on the soviet union. Finland is not a concern, the germans will always have naval superiority in the baltic except in the late game if they are about to lose and it doesnt matter anyway then.
@ivannygreen31305 жыл бұрын
@@paint4r Agreed, Alex! Two fronts is not possible for Germany. And Japan are better used to take China / India, then running after some few (5-6) IPC in eastern Russia. Allied bombing strategy will only work, if they also attack on land in Europe. I wrote: "...an aggressiv UK / USA Strategic bombing strategy. And landing of troops in Western Europe." USA should work on getting an beachhead in France ASAP. But they could use 2-3 bombers (wich they almost have from start) to go after Germany in the prosess (with 1-2 UK bombers) wich will cost Germany some 10-15 IPC on average from turn 4. I do not think it is possible to stop Germany only by strat. bombing. It will not be instead of boots, but on top of boots in Europe. Finland and Norway is of great concern for the Barbarossa campaign. Because of its great IPC swing value of 21 IPC (11 gain for Russia, and 10 loss for Germany when you add the NOS(national objectives)). Wich eventually is more in IPC value, then all the 5 territories (with 2 IPC value) in southern Russia combined, wich Germany are going after. Russia will be able to fight Germany on equal terms if they can hold Norway / Finland. UK will bomb those German ships out of the Baltic, if not Germany bulid an AC ther and holds 3 fighters in Germany for a scramble. But that will help Russia, because it drains money out of the Barbarossa Campaign. And those 3 fighters will have to stay put there to defend against an air attack by RAF. So UK building 4-6 planes (bombers / Tac) during UK 1-3, will be able to knock out Germany from Baltic in turn 3 or 4. They already has 2 fig and an bomber on UK1. Adding 1 fig from Gibraltar. And they will have some 8-10 planes to smash Germany (turn 3-4) in Baltic with their 3 fig. Scramble, 1 destroyer, and 1 Cruiser. Even if Germany has an AC with 2 figthers the odds favour UK. Next: Russia can produce more in Karelia (3 artilery /12ipc) / Russia (4 tanks / 24 ipc) then Germany can send to defend Finland, with 1 transporter in Baltic. Finland will fall on R2 or R3 and Norway next turn.

Ivan Nygreen I must have misinterpreted what you meant about the bombing strategy. I assumed you meant more than that. Having just that many british bombers up for the allies could pose a threat for sure. As for finland, after the first turn of barbarossa leningrad is already threatened so if the russian player really did take it which they could then I would happily grab leningrad intstead. By the time the americans were in europe I would already be knocking on moscows door if I was allowed leningrad that early.
@paint4r5 жыл бұрын
Also I forgot, I always buy a carrier on g1 so this bomber strategy would still be possible but a lot harder for the allies. As for japan, I only go into russia if I have already taken india and the units left over from china are doing literally nothing. At that point however, the axis have likely already won the game unless the americans are doing incredibly well in either the pacific or europe

@@paint4r Hi, In this video by GHG where Germany builds an minor factory in Romania, and moves all units down there to attack Ukraina. I think i would plan an attack on Finland / Norway. If Germany went straight on Leningrad, i had to reconsider the Finland / Norway attack.

I've tried Barb 1 with two tanks and tactical in Bessarabia and two men + fighter in East Poland, 3men and tank in Baltic, also Stategic bomber on Ukraine factory They are then down 7 pieces and 4 to 6 points on factory , so with a 12 piece buy they only net a 3 piece increase on their first buy instead of twelve. Tied together with a leapfrog from Yugoslavia and watch out Moscow

In your Naval warfare video you showed a attacking transport getting sunk by defending scrambled fighers that had also taken out an attacking ship. Because both fighters “hit” the “extra” hit gets applied to the transport. Shouldn’t the transport be allowed to retreat back a zone?

Would Yugoslavia not become controlled by an allied power after being attacked by the Axis? It seems like they could then attack into Germany before the Italian turn comes and they can wipe them out.

Really appreciate your videos and your effort in doing them! Could you or anyone else here answer if an allied player could "liberate" another allied's territory whose capital has been captured. For example, if London has been captured by Germany, could USA take over the territories in Canada and adjust their income by doing so? If I have understood the rules correct you can't because the territories must actually be captured by an Axis player before anyone else can liberate it. But there is a discussion between some players and the rules are not completely clear on this, at least not for us swedes haha ;)
@primroselane16 жыл бұрын
You are correct. The Axis must take the Canadian territories and then the Americans can scoop them up if London has fallen. If London is liberated after that then the Americans would hand the territories back to the UK Europe. They can't take them from the UK directly though like your friends suggested.

Hi general! I've recently started playing G40 and a huge thanks for the videos, they help a lot. I have a question regarding the role of Japan in a G1 Barbarossa strategy. You said its better if they hold till turn 2 or even 3 to declare war to keep the Americans out of it. However, if Japan starts the J1 attack strategy, are they not in really good position to dominate the Pacific and force the Americans to focus more on the Pacific rather than Europe? Would that not put Germany in better position to take Moscow? Again, huge thanks for the videos!
@jeffbiscuit3 жыл бұрын
Hey, no expert here but I'll offer my two cents since he didn't reply. I think a J2 or J3, focusing on taking India and/or all the spice islands, is even better (not attacking Russia from behind like is shown in this video). If the US player decides to ignore Japan while they do this, the Japanese may very well just be able to win the game by themselves; all they would need to do is take Sydney after India, which can be done by turn 5 or 6--maybe even 4---if there is no/minimal US engagement. I think that's more powerful than a J1, which I really don't like as a strategy imo. But your head is definitely in the right place; the axis have to position the allies such that if they go full-bore for opening the Western Front, Japan can sweep the game from them.
@jeffbiscuit3 жыл бұрын
And P.S., I don't know if I see the point behind attacking Russia from behind like shown here. Japan is not going to tie down the Ruskies there--they can easily just run towards Moscow, indifferent about the Japanese there--and in the meantime only lose a few IPCs from losing those territories. It distracts Japan so much from its real objective in the Pacific, while also arguably working out well for Russia by adding all that value to its army in the form of the Mongolians.

There is not much of a difference if you go barbarossa G1 och G2, the only rule of thumb when it comes to the warfare that I have is that if Germany wants to go sea lion, a standard J1 attack is off the table (unless Japan does pearl harbour)
