AXIS Camera Station - version 5.56 new user features

In this release of AXIS Camera Station, we have introduced a software update feature which simplifies the update of server software. When a new version of software is available it can be downloaded and automatically installed (the server must have access to the internet). The software update can also be initiated by an administrator who is remotely connected or automatically updated on a specific day and time of the week after a new version becomes available via a schedule.
When updating servers please remember that the system will be offline for a small period, so live and recorded video will be unavailable as well functionality such as alarm notifications and intercom calls. If access control is installed it will continue to function, but the administration of the access control system will be unavailable.
After updating the server software, the software of any connecting clients must be updated to the same version. If the client machine is on the same network as the server, the client software will automatically be updated when connecting the server. However, when remotely connecting to a server via SRA (Secure Remote Access) the client software will not be automatically updated (to preserve data), therefore the corresponding client software will need to be downloaded and installed. If you have several remote servers, update all the servers first and then update your client software last. The function is not intended for the management of larger numbers of remote servers, and we suggest managing them using an additional software management tool as they will provide greater control of the update process as well as reporting functionality.
A new feature added to this release is the ability to re-assign a cameras storage location from an existing server to an AXIS S30 recorder. This is a simple way of increasing storage within your system. Add the AXIS S30 recorder to AXIS Camera Station and then you can re assign the storage location within the storage selection menu item. After the change, new recordings will be made on the AXIS S30 recorder and existing recordings will be available until the retention time has elapsed.
A new integration contained within this release is support for the new AXIS D1110 decoder. The decoder can be powered with POE, supports audio and video resolutions up to 4K.
Once the decoder is added to an AXIS Camera Station server an operator can select cameras and supported views and display them on a monitor connected to the decoder via a HDMI connector. Note the decoder must be connected on the same local network and only cameras connected to the same server as the decoder can be displayed.
The decoder supports the display of up to 8 video streams and can be used with views created with view templates that contain up to 8 camera images (maps and webpages are not currently supported). If there is audio on any of your video streams this will also be transmitted.
Note that the decoder will display one of the three stream profiles configured within AXIS Camera Station so these may have to be changed to suit the monitor to optimize the display.
Within the access control element of AXIS Camera Station, we currently have a preview of an Active Directory function which will continually be improved while in the preview status. In this release the configuration workflow has been improved, multiple groups can now be added, and a schedule can be used to synchronize with your active directory data with the card holder information.
Finally, we have added a function that will exempt a card holder from lockdown. In an emergency the access control solution can be placed into lock down where are all doors will be locked and cannot be accessed by valid card holders. The exempt function will enable specific cards or card holders to bypass the lock down so is useful for management and law enforcement roles who may need access to rectify the situation.
