Mike seem way too calm (1.55)when he heard from Axl that he have drop out of class three times until in the scene (3.35) were Axl confront his dad for not getting angry at him in the first place have started to make sense. I bet Mike wanted Axl to realise his own mistake in order to be a better person without lecture him which seem to work.

At some point, you have to stop parenting every single thing they do and hope that the lessons you tried to teach them over the years sank in and they can take it from here. For Axl, that point was there. His parents weren't going to be around anymore to fix his mistakes or to yell at him when he screwed up. He needed to figure out how to handle that on his own from now on.

I think it’s hilarious that Brick doesn’t remember his homework assignments til the night before they’re due and yet he remembers a loose promise his mom made about some lime jello salad years before. He was so determined to have it that he neglected the proper instructions and got sick to it and got ill for the rest of the episode. Mike even walked over him as they were going inside. Also, in every tv show or movie I’ve watched, everyone has always made a big deal in terms or going to college - that if you don’t go, you’re a failure. College isn’t for everyone. You can get some decent jobs from a High School degree and you can go to some trade schools to learn and work.
