Plus G N' R was never really a consistent band in terms of releasing albums (debut- 1987, 1988 is half live half taken EP and only three new songs, third album is 1991 and 1993 are just covers)

There was a rumor he got surgery around 99 or 2000 for a vocal chord reconstruction or whatever similar to Elton John got but I’m not sure. He must’ve had something done because around 2000 is when we heard that smooth sound for the first time. A year or 2 earlier when he re did some vocals for the live era cd he still sounded like the old axl. So between 98-00 something changed

Axl´s voice is a trademark but let´s be honest about it. We don´t want him to hurt his voice more than already is. But this sounds better than Mickey´s voice. Now is time for him and the guys to work in a new sound if they want to continue. And for those who had the pleasure to listen to the original VOICE and see the band at their peak. Accept the fact that we will never hear it again but at least we have the original members still playing.

I don't understand why so many people keep lying to themselves. If someone was covering a Guns song and singing it like this, people will fill the comment section with insults. I'm a big Guns fan, but we need to accept Axl's "old school" voice has been gone for years now, this lower sining might be a better way to cope with it compared to his Mickey voice, it would be nice to hear whether they can make new music in this range

This is his natural vocal register. He's done the damn falsetto for 40 years now but he can't keep it up anymore and it sounds bad. Him not straining his voice like this sounds a lot better because he can actually sustain notes and do interesting phrasing etc. He can still punctuate with high notes too.

As many singers get older they have learned to adjust their vocal range. I have seen gnr many times in concert. When Axl hits the stage his presence is amazing. No matter how Axl sings his performance rocks you to your soul

I'll be seeing them live in October and I'm very hopeful. Axl sounds cool, the band sounds great. Already saw them in 2016 and Axl's voice was amazing, he was hitting hight notes like they were nothing, but that was 5 years ago, I much rather hear his lower range approach than watching him struggle. GNR are still legends, nothing's gonna change that

Axl demage his vocal cord and hi did a 4 troat syrgery in last 25 years. He change the way of singing to save his voice. The way his sing full rasp voice was his trade mark over the years. Evolution can be cool. This sounds spectacular and a natural progression. I’d love to hear Melissa hitting the high notes more and have it worked into the set more prominently. GNR has always been best with a punk attitude and luckily the way Axl sings, high or low, is f’n punk!
