Some great memories from this band. I graduated from high school in 1988 and this song was rocking on my local radio station played on the stereo of my POS 79 Honda Prelude. While attending university I bought tickets with my limited funds to go see these guys in concert. I'm in Canada, but at the time weed was not legal... and yet I think I got high at this concert from the second hand smoke. I'm sure it was a gimmick that they had at every concert, but they stopped the show midway to order pizza from a local vendor and have it delivered on stage. The 80's were a fun time for lovers of music.

@davidphilipsmusic Жыл бұрын
Age is not the main factor in the deterioration a voice. If it were then singers like Paul Rogers wouldn't be singing better now in his 70s than he did in his 20s. Life style, alcohol/drug abuse, amount of touring, lack of sleep, diet, vocal injuries incurred due to the above... these are all factors. To say "of course he can't sing as well now, he's 62" is not correct.

@andreatelini2415 Жыл бұрын
I mean it’s a compilation that specifically focus on his voice evolution, so there’s nothing cruel about it, it’s just reality… voice changes, and for rock singers it’s almost never for good. Obviously this compilation focuses on the upper register of his voice because it’s the one part of his voice that has evolved during the years, his lower register is basically the same as 40 years ago.This doesn’t mean that now he’s a bad singer, he just can’t reach those high notes in a powerful way, resulting in the not so pleasing “mickey mouse” voice. That’s why even if already had two opportunities in the last 2 years, I didn’t buy the ticket (and all the nostalgia about them being them even though all the years doesn’t get me…guns n roses ended in 1996 period.)

@@SolaceVaina Thats true. All those years of screaming is probably what did it.

@@ryansmurda1552The likely answer is he didn’t use the proper technique to maintain his vocals and with the addition of his life styles of drugs and smoking, it’s surprising that his iconic voice lasted that long.

Wow, I would have never thought that was Axel in the very last clip. Understandably, he's battled through a lot but to be able to hear the subtle changes throughout this video and it ended with that, really blew my mind. I'm grateful for the years where it was a simple summer day going down the road with my Dad in his little red pickup (R I P) listening to Appetite for Destruction. Those are the memories I will forever cherish 🎉

Ever since watching the AC/DC live recordings with Axl fronting, I have been convinced that he used what remained of his voice for them. Along with age and over 3 whole decades of screeching the way he did, I think those performances finally did him in.

Axl Rose was able to sing from an F1 all the way up to a Bb6. That is 5 octaves and 5 semitones. It is absolute incredible range. This is on par with singers like Mariah Carey, Prince and just below Mike Patton, who can sing six octaves. His talent was very intriguing.

what scares me is not the lost of the rasp in his voice, is that he in 2001 wasn't singing with rasp but his voice sounded the usual but woth no rasp, and then we come to 2014 and he is using a totally diferent base to sing

Axl & I are 62 years old. I'm about 6 months younger than he is. There's tons of things that I can't do anymore or do as well as I could when I was younger. It's good that he disappears for a while and takes breaks. It's necessary for his physical and mental health. He lost some weight and is taking better care of himself. Look at guys like Paul McCartney, still performing at age 82. I sure hope we can have Axl with us for another 20 years...

How on earth is he singing two notes, one octave apart, at the same time in the beginning of the video? Don't tell me those are harmonics!

If you are asking about the two parts in the beginning, one was from 1987, and the other was from 1988. Axl has a crazy vocal range :)
