I totally agree, I didn't know he still had it in him. Now it's a bit tragic to hear but understandable. I don't think it's embarassing as long as there are people that want to see them. One thing is that I always liked their songs where Axl sings with his normal voice.

Honestly, I’m just thankful he’s still singing, that the band is together, and that this is still available to fans after all these years. There are glimpses of his old voice. Most importantly, the energy and freedom the band embodies collectively. Axl gives us a lot and continues to, and I hope he sings till ripe old age.

I’ve been a die hard Axl / GN’R fan, since 1986. (Like, to the point of being unhealthily OBSESSED!!😍) I’ve seen GN’R live 15 x’s, thruout the yrs. I saw ‘em in KC in 2013 & Axl was absolutely amazing! Sounded great! So glad I got to see him then…. 2017 was definitely the start of his noticeable ‘voice change issues’. I hate it for him, but I’ll always love Axl! THE most amazing voice on earth cudnt last forever…💔 None of us are at ‘peak performance’ our entire lives. Axl has KILLED IT for decades, and he’s still out there rockin’ stadiums of sold out shows!🤘🏼No one does it like Axl! I’m so blessed to have had the privilege of seeing him & hearing his amazing, unique, beautiful voice, LIVE, so many x’s in my life! W. Ever since watching the AC/DC live recordings with Axl fronting, I have been convinced that he used what remained of his voice for them. Along with age and over 3 whole decades of screeching the way he did, I think those performances finally did him in.

This is actually pretty good that his voice didn't go as downhill as you would typically expect for someone that would actually sing the way he has for so long. It's impressive, actually.

To everyone whining about his voice, he's 62 years old, and of course he can't sing as well as used to. That being said, he's still giving it his all at every show, and tickets are reasonably priced. GNR isn't charging an arm and a leg for a seat like Bon Jovi; who's voice is now horrendous.
@davidphilipsmusic
@davidphilipsmusic 8 ай бұрын
Age is not the main factor in the deterioration a voice. If it were then singers like Paul Rogers wouldn't be singing better now in his 70s than he did in his 20s. Life style, alcohol/drug abuse, amount of touring, lack of sleep, diet, vocal injuries incurred due to the above... these are all factors. To say "of course he can't sing as well now, he's 62" is not correct.

Chris Cornell was able to keep his range. Others have too. Axl didn't take care of himself. He spent 14 years letting himself go. Then 8 years trying to get surgery to fix the damage. Probably had a secret liver and kidney transplant during that time. Celebrities get to go to the front of the donor list. Sleazy lifestyle caught up to him in 1995. He completely unraveled.

Its funny usually these rock stars voices age pretty well and they actually sound better and more refined with age. I saw the Eagles in 15 right before Glen Frey passed. They were in their 70s and they sounded fantastic. Axls voice definitely hasn't aged well he sounded much better when he was younger. No matter how he sounds he will always be one of my favorite singers and GNR one of my all time favorite bands.

I mean it’s a compilation that specifically focus on his voice evolution, so there’s nothing cruel about it, it’s just reality… voice changes, and for rock singers it’s almost never for good. Obviously this compilation focuses on the upper register of his voice because it’s the one part of his voice that has evolved during the years, his lower register is basically the same as 40 years ago.This doesn’t mean that now he’s a bad singer, he just can’t reach those high notes in a powerful way, resulting in the not so pleasing “mickey mouse” voice. That’s why even if already had two opportunities in the last 2 years, I didn’t buy the ticket (and all the nostalgia about them being them even though all the years doesn’t get me…guns n roses ended in 1996 period.)

Some great memories from this band. I graduated from high school in 1988 and this song was rocking on my local radio station played on the stereo of my POS 79 Honda Prelude. While attending university I bought tickets with my limited funds to go see these guys in concert. I'm in Canada, but at the time weed was not legal... and yet I think I got high at this concert from the second hand smoke. I'm sure it was a gimmick that they had at every concert, but they stopped the show midway to order pizza from a local vendor and have it delivered on stage. The 80's were a fun time for lovers of music.
