Age is what happened. Jesus. Cracks me up when people immortalize celebrities. He's just a regular guy that aged. Like we are all doing. Gained a few pounds. Sang a million hours on stage and in rehearsals. So that takes a toll on the voice, body, mind and soul. Kudos to any of these old rock stars that are still out there. Whether they sound good or not, they are old but have the courage to keep going and open themselves up to criticism.

You forgot to mention that Axl was (briefly) the lead singer of AC/DC too, when Brian Johnson was forced to quit touring due to hearing problems, Axl himself actually offered to step in and help them finish out the tour. Rumour has it that Angus Young made it abundantly clear to Axl that he was not to f around and turn up late to shows etc, and to his credit Axl didn't. He was a consummate professional and showed the utmost respect the legendary band he was stepping into, and actually smashed it as their lead singer! He even stepped aside while on stage to let Angus do his thing, understanding that this was very much Angus' band, and Axl didn't want to steal the limelight from him. A phenomenal performer because he wasn't so much performing as showing up and singing what needed to be sung in just the perfect way it needed to be sung. Do you know how many people I have met that got migraines for years until I taught them 'Be Axl Rose' and sing You could be mine and MEAN IT. They have all this trapped anger and are usually people who feel that must always appear nice and understanding etc. At first they look at me like 'I can't do THAT and I CANNOT POSSIBLY SAY THAT!!!!!' Do you want migraines or not? When they allow themselves to go into it (I think we've seen that movie tooooooo/ Why must you find.... another reason to cry?) and even, for a split second, feel that one nerve release...Boom. No more migraines. I tell them that they will be laughing in seconds and usually, if they get to the nerve and let go, they naturally start bubbling up and having fun with it.

Unfortunately 10 years ago, GnR was FAR beyond their prime and concert tickets for their "Reunion Tour" was over $1,000 for decent seats. I sure as fuck wasn't going to spend THAT much to see a Bloated, off key Axl Rose, and Steven Adler wasn't even involved with the "REUNION TOUR". Anyways, I always thought how fucking AWESOME it would have been to be at the "Live At The Roxy, NY" concert back when these guys were still a relatively new band. There was no reunion and it was only 6 years ago. 10 years ago Axl was producing his best vocals since the early 90s. I've seen them 4 times since then and have seen many vintage Axl moments on top of the band being one of the best I've ever seen in 2 decades of over 300 gigs. He's fucking 60. Of course singing incredibly demanding songs in their original form will lead to to some bad moments. Check out Live and Let Die from San Diego in 2016. Pure vintage Axl. Edit:$1000 for a ticket 😂 I've seen them 4 times for less than that. That includes a scalped stand ticket for San Diego in 2016 where I was in the 2nd row. Travelled all the way from Scotland and it was worth every penny.

GnR didn't play hardly any of their hits, and at the very end of the show Axl Rose shouted: "We can play 'Sweet Child of Mine' or 'Paradise City.' Which one do y'all want?" When the crowd boo'ed at having to choose, he played neither and left the stage abruptly without an encore. What an asshole. But a talented asshole.

He's older! The man is a legend, and no vocalist can touch that range. A tenor who can hold notes 3 octaves higher, for as long as he does, or did, deserves the highest respect. I'm more into the heavier side of metal,but gnr was the first and will always hold a personal section of my heart.
@nelliesilvers12102 жыл бұрын
I don't know about no vocalist reaching his range. Phil Anselmo definitely hit notes that seemed impossible. Especially when it comes to how deep and gruff his voice actually is when he speaks. Medicine Man from CfH has him almost shattering glass and that's only one of many examples. Axl's got a legendary pitch reach but I can't say nobody else can hit it. This Love from VDoP is worth a mention aswell with Phil's range but all of Cowboys From Hell shows more of what Anselmo can do when it comes to extreme range. Coma is one of the songs that proves Axl can hit low and high effortlessly but all of AFD would be the best example for that IMO. Edit- I have to mention Chris Cornell's phenomenal vocals in Jesus Christ Pose aswell. Absolutely eardrum vibrating pitch👌🏻🤘🏻.

I met Slash and Duff at the Roxy, 3rd floor bar, 6 months after appetite for destruction was released…it must have been in the fall 1987…my friend, Jackie started freaking out, touching Duff’s necklace…screaming I love you guys, of course they ran out the door…I was able to get Slashes’ autograph on a Roxy drink ticket, for my Roxy friends help me with my memory…there was a side door exit on the 3rd floor bar correct, or was I hallucinating 😅 I did get to stand right next to Slash for a few brief moments and get his autograph. I was able to see them live in a small venue in Anaheim Ca and they were the best metal band I’ve seen (my humble option) I was a classic mental head running up and down the Sunset strip in the late 80’s 😂

proves how bands back in our day live on forever and never made 58 albums just to make music to stay relevant. Those bands from the mid 80's to the mid 90's live on forever and are never forgotten. best 10 years ever!!!

I remember I watched something where someone was talking about axl always being late on stage and said axl told him he wasn't really like that. Few days later I'm at louder than life and we got tired of waiting after 15 minutes to hear a band we didn't really care for and left. THIRTY. MINUTES. LATER. We are in sight of the car and we hear them start their set.

Damn man more respect for one of our heroes of the rock bands of all times... time takes its toll on anyone whose musical instrument is his voice... that doesn't happen to rockers who play an instrument like Slash... just listen to Paradise city, Patience to realize that Axel reached that dimension where only geniuses manage to get to.

Dude, years of singing the way he did destroyed his voice. He was having problems with it way back in the early 90s. Now he's like 50 years old, why anyone would think he'd sound like he used to is utterly ridiculous. He gave everything he had and still continues to, even though its obvious its hard for him..put some more respect on his name.

As a young fan of the band I care little or nothing that Axl does not have the physical state or the voice that he had in the 80s and 90s, the man was about to commit suicide on 2 very critical occasions in his life (early 90s and 2000), I'm glad he's alive, think about how many legends of rock and music in general left us so young for different reasons, dammit, I'm just grateful that he got through all those bad times in his life. Although I am not going to romanticize his physical condition either, I hope it improves him so that he can have many more years to live.
