Ehhh... but wasn't he charged with statutory rape and didn't Slash supposedly cover for him by contacting their manager and telling her that Axl was accused of rape and needed a place to stay to avoid getting caught by the police? And for the record I wasn't there there or even born back then so I can't speak on behalf of the girl or the band. I also love GNR music and in every interview I've seen Slash in, he genuinely comes across as extremely nice and respectful and he supports a lot of charity causes.Again I wasn't there back then so idk what truly happened I'm just saying that it would really suck and I'd feel betrayed as a fan if a couple of people from a band I love did something as horrible as rape or help prevent someone from being caught if they really did commit rape .

A friend of mine just saw & met Axl in Vegas & got 2 sep. pics with him BEFORE the show. He said he was very friendly & at this time, Early April 2016, Axl had broken his foot (& had a walking cast on) & had to sit a lot during the show, but STILL performed with G N' R 'out of this world!' I'm jealous as heck but got to see some of the show live streamed from my friend. So ppl can (& will) say what they will, but Axl STILL rocks, professionally & personally!

Look, Axl's life has been a roller coaster just like the rest of us. He's had his ups and his downs, and he's made his fair share of mistakes. But the man is a genuinely good guy. People just don't like him for some reason, he's a better person than he's portrayed to be.

More people seem to be realizing this-- Axl isn't the asshole that those who were biased to begin with made him out to be. I met Axl in Vegas this year and, though I'm still kicking myself for not having the guts to approach him, I got to see (and film!) for myself what an incredible performer and genuinely sweet guy he is. After decades of lies and exaggerations, this was a breath of fresh air!
@brianhennessy553710 жыл бұрын
With all due respect, a very quick meeting like that hardly qualifies as putting all the other things, about him acting like an asshole throughout the years, to rest. I was his his biggest fan for years, always defending him, but I have to say he's his own worst enemy with the way he has acted many times through the years.
@Lesley_RedRhody10 жыл бұрын
I have to disagree with you. My statement was based on every interview I've ever watched or read, not just this video. Axl has always been one of the most misunderstood (not to mention targeted) artists on the planet. And please don't cite incidents like the one in St. Louis as evidence to the contrary because there was a lot more going on than people realized at the time. When you take into consideration Axl's escape from physical and sexual abuse into account-- not to mention the fact that he was sick of his former band mates being drunk and high all the time (Axl stopped using drugs when AFD became successful)-- a "Breakdown" was bound to happen sooner or later. You and I have the luxury of "losing it" (and boy HAVE I!) in private... not Axl. Peace and Love to ALL. :)
@brianhennessy553710 жыл бұрын
The few interviews Axl has given are hardly a judge of character now are they. I was'nt even thinking of St Louis, but im interested in what you mean by that, what else was going on there that we dont already know? Drugs were not the cause of the breakup, Axls controlling behaviour was a bigger part of it more than anything. I have read all the biographys and literature available because im a huge GNR fan for over 25 years, Axl is no way a saint and has only himself to blame for most of it, IMO. Anyway, I dont really want to argue too much because I agree with some of what you say, I still am a big GNR fan, including Axl. To me, he is still the greatest frontman of all time.
@Lesley_RedRhody10 жыл бұрын
Who's arguing? We're having a friendly debate (at least that's how I see it). >.< I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you. Every interview I've watched, listened to, or read-- regardless of quantity-- DOES make a difference if you actually take the time to listen to what Axl says. To me, it looked more like the others were ganging up on Axl (watch the UYI Tour documentary, for example. While Axl was play-fighting with some black-haired girl there were some pretty nasty comments at his expense being made on the bus). I don't buy the "He was a Dictator." story for a second and I DO believe it was Axl's disgust with the rest of the band being drunk and high all the time that resulted in his eventual decision not to travel with Slash and the others. Not to mention none of his band mates at the time seemed to give two shits about the personal hell he was going through. Also people forget that Dizzy never left and neither Duff nor Izzy has a problem with Axl these days. Duff was at one of the two shows I saw in Vegas last year and I was blown the fuck away! Whether we agree or not, I will say that it's a pleasure talking with someone who doesn't resort to vicious name calling. After all, it's only cyberspace! Peace. :)

As I listen to their early stuff to make me feel young, as I shaved one side of my head about 4 months ago just because I had a few beers and was listening to G'N'R when the kid's in the Avenue asked me what my teenage life was like. When I told them I used to shave one side of my head and have the other dread locked, they BEGGED me to do it, so I did (bareing in mind ALL my hair was halfway down my back), so now one side of my hair is down my back and the other is WELL CURLY HA!! Axl always has been Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde type. When he's in a bad mood he will rain down holy hell on everyone around him, but when he's in a good mood nobody would have a problem with him being their child's kindergarten teacher. Luckily, the good moods have greatly outnumbered the bad moods in recent years. I expect this upcoming tour to be among some of the finest GNR shows ever performed. True, his voice isn't quite what it used to be, and the element of possible danger that was associated with a late 80s-early 90s GNR show that was part of the allure of GNR back in the day is all but gone; we are going to see a focused band playing in perfect harmony this time around...something we never saw in their heyday.
