I was doing a search and clicked on your video blog. I liked the way you took your time and go into detail. I like it so much I Subscribed. I hope you do a lot more videos on your Camaro. I also own a 88 iroc 5.7 liter. With 7,6330 org miles.Getting ready to get it running from setting for the last 10 years. Had spine surgeries so just starting to feel like I can maybe start working on her. Look forward to more of your videos.

vacuum leaks are a big cause of drivability issues with tpi cars. good luck changing the plugs. plan on doing them from underneath. it is the easiest way. you can get plugs 1,2,and 4 from the top. sometimes number 3 but just jack it up and do it from the bottom. i have had four third gens and that is the only way.

I enjoyed your video but have 2 questions for you. I have an 86 Iroc Z28 with the 305v8 and TPI with HEI coil. #1) Is the timing set the same as with your 350 and regular coil setup (disconnect the brown wire?) #2) What is the base timing line for a 305 V8 engine?? Is it the same as for your 350 engine? Thanks and keep making these great videos for us.
@AxlesGarage
@AxlesGarage 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, with the timing wire disconnected, the factory setting is 6 degrees BTDC. For your vehicle.

I know I’m late for the party, but is there any problem with leaving the advance from the computer disconnected & giving additional initial advance- my 95 k1500 seems to run better without the computer advance
@AxlesGarage
@AxlesGarage 2 жыл бұрын
Yes you need the computer advance., then you don't have the additional advance at speed. Traveling at speed under light to moderate load, the computer will advance timing for better fuel economy and stable temperatures.

I have a 1999 Camaro 3.8l... my car was driving fine then one day it just cut off wouldn't cut back on. I bought a new battery and drove for maybe 2 weeks then it cut off again. This time it just cranks no start though. Thought it was the fuel pump but I have a new pump so. What could it be?? When I first bought the car the check engine light would come on and go off some days it would stay one some days it wouldn't. Had it for about 2 months now it won't even turn on just cranks what's could this problem be?? My gas also hasn't been lasting that long I'll have a full tank go a couple places and it'll lose gas very fast

I have a custom wiring harness from Larry's electric and my tpi motor is in a 1972 chevy c10. I want to time it properly but I don't have the brown wire to disconnect. Any idea where that wire goes or what else I can disconnect to get timing right. I have it a 6 btdc without disconnecting anything.
@AxlesGarage
@AxlesGarage 3 жыл бұрын
I would check with Larrys. You might really wake it up with proper timing.

Curious, do you add a whole can or half can of Seafoam to your 5.0L crankcase before the oil change? And idle the engine for how long while Seafoam does it's job? Scored an '88 Z28 305 and will be a keeper.
@AxlesGarage
@AxlesGarage 3 жыл бұрын
Seafoam: In Fuel approx 1oz per gallon of fuel to clean fuel system (I like to use it on a 3/4 tank and add a full can. Oil: Before oil change add 1oz per quart of oil. Run vehicle for several hours (I usually do it a day or 3 before an oil change.)
