WOW! A BLACK WOMAN ROBOTICIST? Thats so amazing. I love that she followed her dreams and didn't let anyone discourage her. Thank you TC for featuring her.

I read comments all over the internet that seem surprised that a black woman or minority is involved in the sciences. It's really sad, because it shows the comfort perception of what and how minorities are viewed by the typical ignorant and stupidly racist bunch. So, to whom it may concern, there is a very long list of minority scientist which without their efforts, we would not have the technological and scientific advancements we are so blessed with today. In fact, it wouldn't be possible without their hard work and genius break through.

Boba Squid The thing about "historical underrepresentation in hard sciences and technology" comes from multiple factors. In some cases, "peers who liken one to a certain Nabisco cookie" is among those factors.

The name, "Ayanna", reminded me of a schoolmate I met in 1989 who intended to major in a different STEM field altogether.

I want to help. I build computers and mechanically inclined. I would like to build smart prosthetics to improve and enhance the quality of life for amputees and people who suffer from neuromuscular disorders. In need an in-roads to this new and ever-changing field.
