I don't get how you missed ayanakoji's statement where he said " or I might find the future where that's not the case let's pray in this precious moment holding kei in my arms that I am smiling" meaning that he wants change and is okay with either results , which actually shows his growth as a character and what we could expect from him in the future.

alot of people forgot that ayanakoji's is 17 years old and we all at that age didnt not understand what it means to love someone , i would say he's making a very good progress with his emotions coming from someone who was a lab rat his entire life , you will see in season 4 good stuff are coming

I always have hope that Ayanokoji develops. He always has hopes that he'd change, after all. Haven't read the light novel, but I'm quite confident of that. Especially since it was setup that he hasn't smiled and he doesn't feel anything with his cruel methods... It means that, at some point, he will genuinely and wholesomely, and that moment will be glorious. Just hope that S4 will come sooner...

Just bro-hope for our boi damn it, dude just wants to change :'( On side note- ayanokoji just wants Horikita in the student council coz he promised manabu he will help her join it and it seems manabu thinks that's essential for her as well. aside from that there has been nothing that suggests our boi needing horikita in student council for any of his future plans.

Yep, I stand behind Ayanokoji all the way, mainly because they're at school so the situation is way less serious than in other shows (like aot, death note, etc..).

Less serious? Well it wasn't mentioned what method Ryuen used on class B but he literally gave drugs to many students to make them ill and intentionally chose only martial arts type exams in that exam. That's how he plays dirty and scary thing is Ayanokoji doesn't condemn his methods.

While the show doesn't make it obvious cause we can't have all of his monologues from the light novels and instead we see things from an outside perspective rather than it being a direct Ayanokoji POV, his end goal is like he mentioned from episode 1 to be normal. The romance all though looks like a way for him to use Kei, his mind by default goes down that path of "Whats your worth and how useful will you be to me" because of the white room but he does want to change that thus the dialoue at the end where he specifically states how he hopes tthere is a future out there where he won't have that mentality anymore and sort of wants kei to break that barrier.
