I can’t believe this song is over a year old today and I’d never heard it until my friend played and sang it. I played deaf while at it but I was really feeling the lockdrum and lyrics, I didn’t want to expose that I was backward with music 😂 so I didn't ask her, I Shazamed the damn song. The gag is, we went out the same day, well night, of 19/05/24. We grazed Kentucky’s dunked wings and wraps and grabbed a seat at the franchise. Later that night we fought over a misunderstanding at some joint we'd diverted our night to. - I called her names, boarded private transport back home, left her with a friend of hers and told her not to follow me back home. We'd fought countless times through our 6 year long distance friendship, at some point we stretched a year without talking, but this was our very first squabble in person. The following morning I turned this song up my airpods all through my working day thinking heavily about her, she’s a great singer btw so I could only hear her pitch in the song. I regretted what I’d said to her, my heart sank and by indulging on this song I realized “ithuba lisekhona, amaphutha ayenzeka, singaxolelana” (the chance is still there, mistakes happen, we can forgive each other). The song felt right and made for the smoke between us. By the end of my working day at about 17:58, I rang her and asked her to return home, and that my heart wouldn’t rest if she didn’t sleep next to me. By the time I double texted to say her plate was getting cold, an hour later, she was by my door step. I hugged her like a lost lover and whispered my apology in her ear, she apologized back and wept. I warmed her food and prepared her bathing water. She ate, bathed and we were merry. Man, life is too short. Abaningi ababonanga lonyaka, amaphutha ayenzeka and I’m glad we could both verstaan and settle our differences and hostilities.
