Leading on from other comments; This Star One song was inspired by the BBC television show 'Blake's Seven' written by Terry Nation in the late 70's/early 80's. Nation created The Daleks for Doctor Who in 1963, and this 4-Season Sci-Fi series followed the exploits of 7 fugitives on the run from The Federation. The name of their commandeered ship is 'The Liberator'. Greetings from Neolithic England.

The guy with the pink bass (not guitar) is Peter Vink and he's one of Arjens heroes. He played in early Dutch prog bands Northstars and Q65.

After seeing a few of these I went back to Star One live 2003. There the only female vocalists are Floor and Irene Jansen. Plus Arjen Anthony Lucassen ( the creator of Ayreon Star One, plus other projects) actually sings and plays. There is an early version of Valley of the Queens !! By the way don't miss The Eye of Ra at this concert.

One of my favorite Arjen songs. This is not an Ayreon song but is from another of Arjen's projects, Star One. For these rare live shows Arjen typically adds songs from his other projects at the end of the set list. Star One songs are inspired by sc fi movies or TV shows. Intergalactic Space Crusaders is inspired by the British TV show Blake's Seven from the 70s.

That base player Peter already played in the 1960s and was with Arjen in early 2003. Here he is well in his 70s of age and invited by Arjen. He starts at a certain ease until Joost crancks the pace up😅

As a part of opera's Ayreon songs may have an argument between the singers. Like this one. Also in Isis and Osiris where the Roman (Edwin Balogh) and the Egyptian (Anneke van Giersbergen) yell Aaahs to each other because of a religious conflict. Also in the song "Loser" the father (Michael Mills) gloats about the bad luck that falls on his son. But then the ladies of the backing vocals begin to beat him. And Irene and Lisette are very tall, as you can see here.. Oh my..

The bass player Peter Vink is a legend. He was a founding member of the band Q65, from The Hague in the Netherlands, that had success in the latter part of the sixties. Later he played in the progrock band Finch.

Song is from another of Arjen's projects, Star One. Usually heavier than Ayreon, and not concept albums. Each song is based on sci-fi concept. Star One is sometimes called Space Metal, which is actually the title of the first album, which includes this song. Damien Wilson (Headspace/Arena/ ex - Threshold) and Maggie Luyten (The Prize/ex- Nightmare) on lead vocals. Same concert as the video you watched for "Everybody Dies", in which you saw Maggie as well. Yeah, love the grit in Maggie's voice.

Damian Wilson is the man, also I've heard the voice of Magali Luyten described as "a voice that could strip rust of Titanic". Sounds about right. The players doing an amazing job as usual and cool guest performance by Peter Vink. I have to love a man who will unabashedly use a bubble gum pink bass. It all fits great into the song.

Arjen likes the scifi stories. This is a fun song. Floor's sister Irene is in the Arjen Angels female singers. You really need to check out Marcela Bovio. The little redhead on the right. IMHO one of the best Nightwish songs is "Getsemane", you will hear Floor singing it when you continue you journey.
