@Seniku Moonjewel I will never forgive Ecclestone for not letting the doctors declair Ratzenberger dead on the crash place, because the event would have been stopped and he would have lost lots and lots of money

@Seniku Moonjewel Well at least that's what most people say. I think he did. And so lots of others used to . Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I used to know that when racing medics received the message "Code 10" they knew they had to declair the unlucky driver dead out of the track. For the Italian law (and I tell you because I'm Italian ) in the opposite case the event has to be stopped. It would have meant💸💸

Agree per se but there will always come a better man, Schumi was my great hero as well but I think a guy like Hamilton would have been his equal if not better? Give young Max Verstappen a Mercedes and a few days to get used to maximize his performance in it and I would bet my money on him beating Hamilton today. Hamilton may say he will team mate anyone but yeah only words to media that is not in his heart, of course not he is not stupid talent will recognize talent when they see it but sad cause I hope we get to see exactly just that and many will be forced to eat their hat, talk is cheap and I don't necessarily like Max (think he is a bit too much at times) but have got to respect his talent ..or Ric, think he would give Hamilton a run for his money too and we all know how Hamilton start when under pressure getting beaten? The child within come out, say hello w all who follow know it is the truth.

F1 All time It's up to each person who he prefers. I understand some like Senna more, some Schumacher. They were both the best of all times. I think Schumacher was even better but yeah that's my opinion. But Verstappen is not yet better than Vettel or Hamilton. Maybe in the future but right now he drives quite dirty und makes too many mistakes.

Two drivers led that race. One of them would be dead by the following morning, the other will probably never remember winning the race or anything about that weekend- if he recovers at all. One man had the most to gain from the others' death, and went on to break all records in the sport he had a passion for, making a comeback and then retiring a second time without paying the ultimate price like the other man did. Yet, it was in retirement- with nothing more to prove- that a cruel fate awaited him- all down to an injury eerily similar to the one that claimed the other mans' life almost 20 years previous... In 1994 we were awakened to the fact that drivers couldn't take their safety for granted over a race weekend... In 2013, we were awakened to the fact that even in retirement, a driver still can't assume they've dodged a bullet... In 1994 at Imola, Schumacher saw Senna crash to his death before his very eyes. 9 years later, he won the race knowing his mother had just died. And how unusual it was to be at the Autodromo Dino Ferrari on May 1, 2014 and amidst the commemoration of Ayrton, throughout the paddock people had three words fresh in their minds: Keep Fighting, Michael Two drivers whose careers (and status as the #1 in the sport) overlapped- and whose fates are sadly familiar...

terrible fate that these two of that time most talented drivers met...well maybe Mika Hakkinen was same level too but he didnt have the car to get the results....also terrible to think that he almost too mate the same fate as Senna. Anyhow both Ratzenbergers and Senna's death might have been prevented with better track safety....both of them went straight into concrete wall, cause they didnt think it was necessary to have tyre barriers at those locations where their deadly accidents happened. I mean maybe they still had been badly injured, but atleast tyre barrier would absord some of the impact and in Senna's case prevent that front right tyre and part of its suspension to hit his head.
@bjorge1896
@bjorge1896 5 жыл бұрын
@@Balnazzardi , That is what I have been saying for years. Imola couldn't put in tyre barriers like they have now because they were cheap assed pricks that didn't think anyone was going to get hurt, let alone killed. Well, their attitude cost probably the driver that ever lived his life, and the life of Ratzenberger the day before. Twenty-five years later and the racing is on boring circuits with massive runoff areas. F-1 died the day that Senna hit the wall, and the era of chicanes, grooved tyres, narrow track suspensions, etc., came into being. F-1 and Mad Max Mosley made one knee jerk reaction after another, only to make racing unwatchable. I could go on and on, but I will keep it short. Thanks for the memories Ayrton, Michael, you're both still sorely missed.

Prost was lucky to be always in the better teams. Senna was always in the worst teams. When Senna got the chance to race to run with McLaren he defeated Prost all the years they were team mates (except in the year of Balestri polemic decision). In 1992, Prost were temporarily retired an McLaren decided to change the car and fucked up the season of Senna and he went 4th in that season. In 1993 Prost came back and signed with Williams and made a clause with them - forbidden to hire Senna - because Prost wanted to be World Champion and he knew if Williams had hired Senna, Senna would won the title. And Senna wanted to sign with Williams but the clause impided him. So Senna had to stay in a decadent McLaren.

less than 24 hours after that footage was shot, senna called the drivers to a conference because roland ratzenberger died in the qualifying. senna asked the drivers if they would reform the drivers labour to set better safety standards ( for the drivers ) in the sport. after the grand prix schumacher virtually became the polesitter of making the sport safer, taking a leading role in developing the cars, improving new security standards for the race tracks and so on. don't get me wrong, schumacher didnt do that all on his own, but i think what happened around theese days in imola was very special and had a heavy impact on the way schumi thought about the sport he loved. i hope you get my point (:

Senna was probably the greatest driver of the modern F1 era (1981-present); certainly the fastest. He was amazingly quick because he would do things and go places most if not all F1 drivers would fear to tread. He just cared about F1 more than others and worked harder at it, that's what made him so great. But I still think that Fangio is the greatest F1 driver ever. To think- he won 24 races, 5 drivers titles in 4 different makes and 48 of 51 of his championship starts were on the front row.

To me the amount of championships dont speak coz they lost by silly things there are so many variables that determine the title winner, its just watching man and machine on a hot lap, and senna looks like he was always flying

And Fangio did all that in his 40's, when most of the other drivers of mature Fangio's day were young enough to be his children. Granted, the F1 cars of those days were not nearly as fast or as demanding on the body as the ones of later years but the conditions of the 1950's were extremely dangerous. Fangio, Senna, Clark, Schumacher and Prost in that order are IMO the top 5 F1 drivers ever. Imagine if Senna had not been killed what his rivalry with Schumacher would have been like. Awesome.

@@Mjdecker1234 I never said Fangio was the only good racer back then- don't put words in my mouth. I would put Stirling Moss in the top 10 best ever, Mike Hawthorn was champion in '58, Nino Farina was champion in '50, Alberto Ascari was champion in '52 and '53 and Brabham was champion in '59 (but his greatest successes were in the '60s) Collins, Froilan Gonzalez, Brooks, Taruffi, Villoresi, Behra (very underrated), Castellotti, Schell, among others were also good drivers back then. But Fangio was the best driver of the '50's, and I still think he is the best F1 driver ever. To do what he did back then- winning nearly half the championship races he was in with 4 different constructors- that's incredible.

Senna could have won 94-97 straight, and instead of Schumi, the former would have been the 7 time champion...

Just look at Sennas reaction when Murray says you've won here 4 times already and need to make it 5, in my eyes I think he had some kind of sixth sense about what was to come :( RIP Ayrton, From England

Senna and Jim Clark were the all-time best all-rounder formula 1 drivers, in my humble opinion. But there are several other drivers who were, at times worthy of that accolade, such as Stirling Moss and Fangio, Gilles Villeneuve and Jackie Stewart. Prost was also capable of thinking his way to a win. Schumacher was a great team driver, as were Jack Brabham and Nikki Lauda. But if I could pick one driver to have in my team, it would be Jim Clark.

- so they still must have been pulling some kind of g force. Also, manual gearboxes, no traction control or launch control, no anti-lock brakes in days where one slight mistake could have killed you. This makes clark's drive at a wet spa that was much larger and less safe than it is today even more impressive.

Don't forget that in Brazil both Schumacher and Senna lapped Hill around midrace. That gives an indication as to how much better the Schumacher/Benetton combination was than HIll, and how much better Ayrton as a driver was than both of them.

That race should never been allowed to take place after Barrichello's accident and Ratzenberger's death, and one of the greatest tragedies in motorsport could have been averted. I was watching that race, I can remember like it was yesterday and had avery bad feeling someone else was going to get hurt or killed on race day, I really wish I had been wrong?
@premierpaul1
@premierpaul1 10 жыл бұрын
This is an ongoing debate... Under Italian law, a death within the confines of the circuit would have required the cancellation of the entire race meeting. That, in turn, could have prevented Senna's death. In the case of Ratzenberger, this would have meant the cancellation of both Saturday's qualifying session and the San Marino Grand Prix on Sunday. Senna could have been alive.. but the organizer didn't want their pockets to get empty.. so they held the race... which was against all the laws... Due to these money minded organizers we lost a Legend...

Who do you think Senna got his millions from? The money sponsors pay to have their brands paraded on prime time tv for 2 hours, besides making team owners and drivers insanely rich, trickles down to everybody involved. No money minded sponsors and money minded organizers=no formula 1. Senna was just as money minded as anybody.

0:15 What a great hypocrisy from him, knowing that HE actually had the very best and winner car - in that peculiar year of deep changes in rules - giving a declaration like that only to 'convey' the 'image' of "oh, they have Senna and the dream car, while I drive a humble Benetton". Then people see him beating them, disgusting manipulation!

Still can't believe he's gone after all these years . The greatest of all time. Michael Schumacher too I saw him race in 2003 Melbourne GP. Tragedy what's happened to him too 😢😢
