Ayrton Senna could be one with the car, as if it were part of his body. many drivers did not have this and this was most evident when it was raining and being able to keep a car on the track at such incredible speed is impressive. It's a pity that I only started to look into him after he had long since passed away. Above all, Aryton Senna was a beautiful person who cared deeply about his fans.

Prost is very much underrated, because of his rivalry with Senna and being portrayed as 'the enemy' of the latter. However, had all results counted in 1988, not Senna, but Prost, who's two retirements came from mechanical issues, rather than driver error, would have won the championship. In 1989, Senna received special treatment from Honda, yet Prost still beat him. And in 1990, Senna punted him off in Suzuka, in a move that would see Schumacher disqualified 7 years later in similar circumstances. Using today's point system, Prost beat each and every one of his teammates, which included past and future world champions and race winners.

@ 11:11 Correction, the crash at Estoril Portugal 1989 was 100% Mansell's fault - firstly he was repeatedly ignoring the black flag (which means "you are disqualified for a professional foul - you must pull out now") and secondly even if he had been entitled to be there it was a failed pass attempt - nowhere near alongside (front wheel to rear wheel contact). It was almost identical to the Suzuka Japan contact where Senna ran into Prost just as Mansell ran into Senna here. Japan 1990 was certainly Senna's fault, but Portugal 1989 was certainly NOT Senna's fault. The commentator also forgot to mention that in 1989 Senna won the most races (6), was wrongfully disqualified after winning a 7th GP (Japan) and lost 5 more near certain wins when struck by an incredible run of bad luck - retiring with mechanical failure whilst leading in all 5 - with reliable cars as became avaialble in the 2000s Senna would have won 12 of 16 in 1989 - Prost was rarely actually a match for him for race pace on the track.

It's impressive that a car that was a champion in previous years had so many problems. Maybe they intentionally sabotaged his car to cause harm and the worst happened.

If senna lived and drove for another 6 years, based on who he was driving for, and who he would probably have driven for, he would have won all the world championships up to 2000. So he should be on 9 world titles, Schumacher on 5, no Hill, Villeneuve, and Hakkinen. Arguably, Ferrari would have hired him instead of Schumacher too for Senna's last years in the sport. He might have 11 titles. Senna dying allowed no less than 4 other drivers to become champions. He would have beaten them because he was beating them and they would have been second driver to him in the same team.

As soon as I heard Murray Walker, I stopped watching. Unfortunately many people listen to Murray's opinion on the greatest drivers debate but he does not give objective opinion. He should be objective or don't say anything. He picks Prost over Senna because Prost was nicer to him, he said it himself. He hated Schumacher after the 94 Australian GP where he thought Schumacher robbed Hill of the championship. After Schumacher came to one of his birthday parties, all of a sudden, Schumacher is the greatest driver. He should have kept his personal feelings separate from a professional one. Had Hill bough him a box of chocolates then Hill would have been the greatest driver of all time for him.

@@paulanthonynelson2733 The only people who would know why Senna was faster are the ones who actually saw all the races back then. I lived in Chicago and went to all Detroit GP since 1983. Here is one thing you will never find on the internet. Senna and Lauda were the only drivers who came down to the basement of Renaissance Center to work with the engineers every night. All the cars were taken to there each night as they didn't have garages. The cars were roped off but you can talk to the drivers, though Senna wouldn't talk to many people other than to say hi. Lauda was more friendly. Since all the 88/89 races are available, go watch all the races end to end and tell me who is the faster driver. Not just qualifying but the races.
