@@myurenj4469 If you need 'Sastra' or scientifical reason behind each rules rules and regulations, you will have to question all the offensive crimes in this country with the question 'why'. My Answer: This question can be answered in many level and from many stand points... One thing to bear in mind is that when the rules of the temples (the Aagamam) were composed, surely there was no photography and so the ban is only a modern idea... > it may be that people have refused to understand the idea of a photograph and feared every snap takes away (or freezes) a little portion of one's lifetime - with no exception even to the deity... You may know that once people believed that taking frequent photographs reduces one's lifespan! > the 'presence' of a deity, the idea of it as god, inside a temple is far more influencing than that would be on a simple printed photo... letting the image to be available outside the temple may decrease the respect for it (as is now obvious from how we treat the god photos as photos! The 'prasadam' packet covers of many devasthanams with its main deity printed on it being trashed without any concern... all these!) > it may also be a caution that allowing frequent photographs will actually spoil the deity itself... this had solid reason for it: in initial days, small amounts of fire crackers will be used for 'flash', even now the powerful lights we use for flash and lighting may surely affect ancient relics and heritage items (not only temples, but many ancient paintings, such as the Ajanta cave ones, are also prohibited from being photographed for this reason!) Also, allowing photography will, in due course, make more and more people with more and more instruments dwell inside or near the sanctum sanctorum and will surely spoil the heritage and serenity of a temple... These are the three main reasons, as I perceive, that may have lead to the ban, which, in my opinion, is not such a bad thing... (many temples have ban only for the inner praharams and sanctum santorum, while they allow photographing the outer layers of the temples, which actually contains the more elegant, fine and beautiful arts - so it is much ok with me :-)
