Irl, the commander of the U-556 and the commander of the Bismarck were friends, when U-556 was being launched the commander of the Bismarck got his band to play music, the crew of U-556 all signed a document stating they would aid the Bismarck should the need arrive, but they never got the chance to help That's also why in the event, there's an auxillary item called "Unfulfilled promise" symbolic of U-556 unable to fulfill her promise to protect her Lord Bismarck
