Really glad you mentioned the difference between what works in different climates! Even within a country, different regions may have climates different enough to make certain methods work differently. What works for my parents in their wind-sheltered south facing garden in Kent doesn’t always work in my windy northwest-facing garden at the top of a hill in Sheffield

Thank you, helpful and informative vid as always. I like your calm, relaxed, and informal style of presenting the information. I almost feel like I’ve been meditating or something after watching you working on the beautiful trees with the sound of the breeze through the trees in the background, very rewarding and always a pleasure, please keep them coming and have a wonderful summer mate 👍🏻☺️

Hello, Corin! Kudos to your camera person who always moves around for best angles, gets close ups when needed for detail work and then moves out for the big view. He/she follows your dialogue well so we can always see what you're working on and the details you're pointing out. A word on the new microphone. All the other sounds--pouring the medium, snipping growth & roots, moving tools around, etc.--are coming across much louder than your voice. And your voice is somewhat harder to understand--it's not as clear as before. But I appreciate your wanting to try new things and improve! Really enjoy your channel.

Hi Corin, you're right about the variation in climate, I'm in Madrid and I cannot repot the satsukis any later than April, otherwise the hot dry air just devastates them for weeks afterwards. So it's safest in a Mediterranean climate to repot azaleas in mid february, then a greenhouse isn't needed for recovery. But I guess in UK you would normally repot them in May after flowering?

Very useful. Thanks Corin... Satsukis are one of a number of species I know need handling a bit differently but nothing more so I've avoided them so far. This never works of course, your friends and family buy them and assume you can help. 🤣

I'm relatively new to bonsai, and watching your tutorials is so inspiring.Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I do have a question.I see you use neat akadama instead of a soil based medium.can you tell me of the benefits of that?I should mention I live in Australia,so I've been adjusting for our climate.I just don't know enough about akadama.

Would love to see these killers in full flower. When soil gets hydrophobic like that, would soaking up to the pot line in water for 15/20 mins be advisable to rehydrate?
@greenwoodbonsaistudio
@greenwoodbonsaistudio 3 жыл бұрын
No. best to water from above with Kanuma, as it you soak it the fresh kanuma rises and floats away !

With a pot like that, is it necessary to use a wire to secure the drainage screen? I feel that once you put a layer of soil on, that mesh will never move
@christinedozier6071

I have no luck with wiring the mesh. I've been hot gluing the mesh down as step one
@MaybeBonsai
@MaybeBonsai 3 жыл бұрын
@@christinedozier6071 haha whatever works I guess. I also had trouble with it, I find that if your mesh is sturdy(not too bendable) then it is much easier to wire in but at the same time I have a lot of pots with the mesh not wired in and they never move
