It's interesting that Painted Desert Ranch handles their foals very little - they are with the mares and a stallion and they react about like this when they are haltered, handled and loaded. Calm and curious.

Not too many places or people know about the imprinting process that needs to take place right at birth to me it’s one of the most important steps when raising foals that way they become familiar with the human being around them this will allow the training process to be a lot smoother later on when their ready to be started..thank you for your support very much appreciated

Our foal had a bad experience when we purchased her and loaded her up on the horse trailer for the first time, which took almost an hour to load her in. My question is what can I do to take away that fear from him ?

Hello thank you for reaching out, since you have your foal home already what you can do is start to build up trust with you and your horse before introducing her back to the trailer do a little ground work with her with the flag then move her up to a tarp , have her walk over the tarp left and right rub her down with it all over her body until she’s comfortable with it , then every once in a while walk her next to the trailer , if she spooks and pulls back keep walking her around the trailer until she’s calm but don’t make it seem that your trying to load her just let her understand that it’s ok to be next to it you want to keep her mind at peace with everything that your doing try not to force the horse into doing anything allow her to think about it and respond by moving forward on a soft feel every little try that she gives you reward it right away by petting her and loving on her but don’t bribe your horse with treats or anything , the ground work is the strongest foundation so take your time and be patient eventually she’ll load into that trailer no problem
