If you read the book, that scene about the deeds is all about Crowley feeling awkward about how out of touch the other demon's are. He's not nervous, he's reacting to how ineffective/old fashioned Hastur and Ligur are. Crowley's that idea guy at the marketing firm who has unconventional methods that work. Maybe the boss sees it, but middle management doesn't get it.
