I do kind of have to respect Crowley for putting his self-respect first before Heaven or Hell. He won't even cave in to the love of his life telling him they can be angels together. Even though it ended in heartbreak, I'm sort of proud of him for putting his foot down and refusing to go back to that toxic world.

In episode 2, Shax teleported into the Bentley to talk to Crowley. Crowley had not invited her or given her permission, that I know of. So... unless anyone does know of when or whether Crowley ever invited her...? Or does she just have an automatic invite because she and Crowley are both minions of hell (if he is one anymore), in which case why would she need an invite from Aziraphale? In many comments, Aziraphale gets treated like some kind of traitor who drops Crowley like a hot potato as soon as he doesn't have a use for him anymore. Did these people actually watch the same final scenes? Azira's excitement as he tells Crowley they can both be angels again? Because he always remembers the first time they met up there, that's where their (love) story began, so he truly believes that this is the place for them to finally be happy together. The shock when Crowley turns away with a short "Good luck", and how he literally BEGS him to come back. Never did I hear anyone say "I need you!" in a more distressed tone, because he knows he's about to lose the most important person in his entire existence. The despair when Crowley doesn't answer kills me every time. Of course he was shocked when Crowley kissed him, he maybe was even scared to get his face bitten off instead. You have to remember, the last time he was grabbed by the collar like that, Crowley pushed him against a wall and almost through it because he was pissed by a single word ("nice"). But when Aziraphale realised what the situation was actually about, he gave himself to the moment. Unfortunately, Crowley stopped just then and after a brief moment, Aziraphale's protective mode snapped in, so he hurled the "I forgive you" at Crowley... For me, their story really looks like that of someone trying to get the love of his life out of an abusive relationship. Crowley's trying so hard to protect Aziraphale, while Aziraphale is constantly manipulated by his abusive "ex" (heaven and all...) who's telling him that things will get better this time because they were in anger management training. Okay, I'm completely heartbroken again, I'm off. 💔

The problem is that Aziraphale agreed for the both of them without even *thinking* to consult Crowley about it first. Crowley, without his knowledge or consent, was signed up for a job he *didn't ask for* in a place that *violently kicked him out* several millennia ago just for asking questions, and only if he returns **as an angel** (which would alter Crowley on a such a fundamental level, it's quite possible he'd no longer even remotely resemble who he's been for the last 6,000 years) to work alongside all the other angels *who despise his very existence* It's hardly comparable to what Crowley was trying to say, essentially "both sides are toxic, let's continue to pick OUR side, and hey, maybe let's also stop pretending like we don't want to be together." I swear, the only reason Aziraphale STILL hasn't accepted the reality of Heaven being just as trash as Hell is because the show has one more season to go, so they can't allow him to come to his senses until they've raised the stakes as high as possible for the third and final act.

That's a pretty good detail to notice that Aziraphale follow's Crowley's gaze even when wearing sunglasses. I just loved noticing how Crowley was in the habit of instantly taking his glasses off when coming into the shop cause hes safe and doesnt have to hide with Aziraphale. All for my heart to be instantly broken the moment he put them on--and kept them on-- for the remainder of the final scenes. thank you for finally pointing out what ive been saying this whole time, AZIRAPHALE PUSHED INTO THE KISS AND COMPLETELY CONSIDERED GOING FULLY INTO IT. I feel like people are acting like Aziraphale pulled away immidiatley but the poor boy was just shocked at how much anger was put into the kiss and that is what causes him to say "I forgive you" instead of "I love you." He takes on others feelings so heavily showcased in the first season in which he can pick up on Adams love, he detected mass amounts of anger which scared the piss out of him. All in all coffee theory isnt real and theyre gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide.

Hear me out: I always thought of Aziraphale's reaction to the kiss as "did you just try to tempt me". Like, he doesn't hate being kissed by Crowley. Quite the opposite, it seems. But he panics because he's afraid this is a temptation and that's partly why he can't say "I love you". And the worst part is, he's right. The kiss is a temptation of sorts. A desperate, pleading one, but a temptation nonetheless.

Actually Crowley has always been unable to reject any of Aziraphale's requests, ever. Not even one of them. In that regard, I think it has put Azi a little on the upper hand of their relationship. Because almost his every wish has been satisfied by Crowley but he, on the other hand, always makes the difficult one when Crowley asks him to do anything. The same pattern over and over, Azi asks, Crowley gives, and then - Crowley asks, Azi refutes, makes some scenes, and only when the end is near, he accepts.

you know what I can't wait to see? *_Obviously_* I want them to have a happy ending in the supposed S3 but I'm about to say something cruel... I can't wait to see the aftermath of that ending. I want to see what their lowest points look like, I've already seen what the fandom has conjured up for Crowley, one instance being her hair growing out very long due to being unable to look after himself because of depression. And then from there, I want to see how they adapt to their new circumstances, if they change at all. AND THEN I want to see them get together. When I say 'at her lowest' I'm thinking of Ed from OFMD kind of low, wrapped up in messy nightgowns, looking a little scruffy and being completely out of it. It sounds so cruel and I feel bad for wanting to see it, but I really do because I love seeing how far characters can stretch, and what they look like when pushed to the extreme. Poor Crowley, I do hope that at the end of it all, she'll get what she wanted. Aziraphale better be the one fighting for their relationship in the not-so-canon S3, Crowley needs the rest honestly.

This made me realize that Crowley never tries to convince Aziraphale he's doing something fully bad. He'll say "oh just bend the rules a bit, you've done that before" but Aziraphale is always telling Crowley how good he is deep down. The finale makes a lot of sense realizing that Aziraphale appreciates Crowley as he is, but has always wanted him to go back to being an angel. That way he could have these feelings for him without the shame. He's less yielding that Crowley, who does reciprocate by participating in the ballroom dance, but Aziraphale ultimately rejects Crowley's kiss by not participating like they both want him to.

I LOVE THIS!!! Not only is it my favourite ineffable husbands, but also i completely agree with some of the side comments, like how he pushed into the kiss. Aziraphale didn't know what to do when Crowley kissed him so i assume he reverted to being good or whatever and said "i forgive you," instead of "i love you", but he wasnt disgusted by the kiss. He didn't push Crowley away immediately, he tried to grab his back and leant into him 😭😭😭😭 That's why i don't believe the coffee theory

People think it meant Azi didn't act on himself and was affected by Metatron. I don't really believe this, although I would love it as an excuse to not cry a ton whenever I watch the scene lol. Although i get why people are more inclined to blame aziraphale and thinking he was the one who rejected and broke crowley's heart, i do think it is bit inflated; they both are making themselves miserable due to their own action - not communicating with each other. They both need to sort out a lot of their feelings and misconceptions - crowley has deep distrust towards heaven (justifiably so) and aziraphale still wants to believe heaven as system is perfect and good and they both could make a remarkable difference if they are in charge with all the knowledge accumulated. However, they still have to learn a lot about humanity as we can see how they try to push nina and maggie, even if it was due to good intentions. Frankly, what both of them need is a little bit space to learn alone and also a crash course to How Communicate Properly with your Partner

I love how many scenes we got this season of Aziraphale just admiring Crowley, like its made so obvious that Aziraphale adores Crowley. Aziraphale wasn't even interested in going back to heaven till he was told he could have Crowley by his side there, which make the final scene so devastating cuz his main motivator to going back to heaven was to be with Crowley and in his mind restore Crowley to time when he was happy but he ended up losing him completely.

The slander against Aziraphale is a bit annoying tbh. While i do think hes a bit of an idiot, they are both being idiots for not talking about this rationally. Aziraphale wasn't disgusted or upset by the kiss. He liked it, even wanted to reciprocate, but I think either he got too into his own head about heaven not liking an angel kissing a demon. OR Crowleys kiss could have been filled with so much emotion that it essentially overpowered him. Either way, he obviously wanted it, but the way it all happened was just not ideal I'd say. I'm not mad at him because of the kiss, I'm mad because he wants Crowley to change himself for him. To be an angel again. He's never gotten over the angel Crowley used to be. Maybe other people have thought of this too but I haven't seen anyone else say it: I think that there was an underlying threat posed by the metatron in the offer to Aziraphale and that THAT was a major reason for their choice as well as. First of all there's the motif of the ultimatum “coffee or death” and for some reason-that juxtaposes the usual ‘don’t compromise holiness with material usage’-the first thing the metatron did was go to the coffee shop. Here he remarked on the fact that no one ever chooses the bad option when they are so distracted by their desire for the preferred option. He decided to adopt this method of manipulation in his approach to Aziraphale without exactly adding the choice of ‘death’; he seemed careful to avoid losing Az’s trust by suggesting a serious sanction (which as seen in s1 only pushesd Az away from heaven and it’s clutches). Aziraphale fell for the trap and naturally leapt at the chance to be with Crowley, give Crowley the protection from hell and give Crowley a life they think can make them as happy as when two first met. They were shocked when they realised that Crowley is determined they would never be happy as an angel again (that's of course another topic) and its only then that they realised they never secured another option-and the metatron gave no indication that he would allow one. Az only knew that A) the metatron is the voice of god and so his saying that Az was the “only one for the job” was a distinct will of god and so to go against it would defy heaven (which they are still holding onto as something they won’t do), and B) if they became rejected because of that then they couldn’t prevent the ‘second culling’ or receive and offer protection (from heaven or otherwise) to Crowley. Aziraphale is doing everything they can to protect Crowley 😭

The kiss was not a nice one, it was full of pain and sorrow, and actually just a big "I love you you idiot! You're taking this from us, we could make this reality!" As Crowley said, the two of them know exactly what kind of team they are, how close they actually are, and yet how they always act as if that's not the case. I saw some comments where people said that az doesn't love him back but that's obvious nonsense! All the pain he has been in since the first season were clearly "I love you, but I shouldn't love you because you're a demon and I'm an angel", so he hid his feelings and kept repeating "but you used to be an angel" to lie to himself and pretend there was no difference between them. In the scene where Crowley saves his books, he could no longer deny his own feelings. "We could both be angels, we could be together!" means exactly what he says. Crowley wants to escape this corrupt and unnecessary heaven-hell rules nonsense, somewhere where he and his love can be free and undisturbed, but az has hope in his system, and in the good. He thinks he can solve the corruption and thus improve the system in such a way that Crowley can once again believe in it and live under it. The idiots really need more open communication. They both love each other, and they both want to find a way to live together, after 6000 years of sorrow, but they're simply scared.

Aziraphale is an angel and he is hopeful. He truly believes he can make a difference with more assigned powers and give Crowley a better opportunity to be himself while not having to be cautious of hell anymore. He sees Crowley as kind and angelic enough. Also they're a good team and obviously he loves Crowley. But he is naïve and doesn't think his authority will have some responsibilities that will put him in an uncomfortable situation. Crowley can see that but he can't hold Aziraphale back because he tried everything he could even desperately kissing him to hold him down with him but Aziraphale is flying back up. Also, even if I side with Crowley on most things, I understand that Aziraphale is a good person who's still fighting endoctrination and truly believes that he can change things from the inside. I only hope that, without Crowley by his side and among the other angels (Michael and Uriel in particular) he won't fall back on the "all black or all white" philosophy he had at the begiining (before Crowley showed him the shades of grey).

I don't really understand the need to "side" with either of them. Why can't we empathize with both? Accept that they're both complicated, flawed characters and that's what makes them interesting and relatable? Neither Crowley nor Aziraphale was listening to the other. Aziraphale was insensitive in what he said to Crowley but wanted to protect him and earth and thought he'd found a way. Crowley insulted Aziraphale and forced a kiss on him at a moment when he was most vulnerable and heartbroken. It probably scared A terribly. Crowley could have stayed longer but he chose to storm out.

Some people think Aziraphale pushed into the kiss and I love that and you can tell from a lot of his lines that he does feel the same way even if he’s a bit nervous about it, but for this particular scene, it seems more to me like Crowley is pulling Az into him. If Az was genuinely against it he would’ve pulled back instantly or pushed at Crowley but he skimmed his back, he certainly wasn’t against it but he was still unsure. And in that sense, I so much prefer the version where Crowley is pulling Aziraphale against him for two reasons. 1.) It’s very symbolic of their relationship, of Crowley pushing Aziraphale over the clear cut line into the “blurred gray” and Aziraphale responding unsurely at first and then with rigor. 2.) It really cements Crowley’s desperation here. He is hoping that he can change Aziraphale’s mind about heaven, maybe he knows this could be his last chance if he doesn’t go with Az. He is desperate because he doesn’t want to lose Aziraphale but knows he might anyway. He’s pulling Aziraphale closer to himself. I think that’s all the more heartbreaking, but all the more sweeter.

I fully believe that Azi loves Crowley in the first 2 seasons and just won't admit it to himself because he still sees them as angel and demon (black and white). So when he's offered to be the Supreme Archangel (or whatever it's called) and he's told Crowley could be an angel again, he has a thought in the back of his mind that says "if we're both angels, we could love each other without any problems" and that's why he agrees to it. If that wasn't an option, I'm sure he would have turned the offer down or at least talked to Crowley about it first. Also, the pain on his face when Crowley kisses him is so heartbreaking, I need season 3 to come out and make them happy again

If they are both angels, Azi can avoid having to deal with his complicated black and white feelings about “what” they are - but he doesn’t realize that this is essentially asking Crowley to change who he is.
