Here's one of my most favorite settings of Sim Shalom, the ultimate prayer for peace. It is by Max Janowski (1912-1991) who was born in Berlin, and is considered one of the most prolific and influential composers of synagogue music in the 20th century.
Recorded in Berlin last year for the album Heritage, featuring treasures of Jewish-German composers.
With RIAS Kammerchor
Colin Fowler, Music Director
Justin Doyle, Conductor
Raymond Goldstein, Arranger
Program notes: Dr. Anat Rubinstein
Recording Producer: Florian B. Schmidt
Video Editing: Tami Shaham
Special thanks to Eli Grunfeld

This is the most beautiful setting of the Sim Shalom I've ever heard. In our troubled world, it hits very close to home. When I first heard it, I burst into tears.

Beautiful, powerful splendor All the right steady spiritual steps needed to immerse in the prayer for what these two prayers mean. Todah, merci, danke, thank you. Uplifting engagement in Jewish tefillah; keva and kevanah simultaneously. Harmonious journey.

I was fascinated to learn that Max Janowski was the vocal coach of Isola Jones, one of my favorite opera singers. Not only did her voice have power and beauty, but she had an absolutely riveting stage presence. Thank you for this beautiful video!

First time I have heard this one. I appreciated the side texts. I am in the mood for peace but the powers that be, are obviously not. It makes me sad.

People of Israel !!! Soon there will be a day when God will raise up prophets like Abraham Isaac, Jacob ,Elijah and all the prophets God has sent to you thousands of years ago. The resurrection of the prophets you will know first of all the people of the earth. It will be the beginning of peace on the earth. God of Israel will raise up the prophets in Israel. At present, those who rule can not change anything, only the righteous representatives of God are able to bring Peace. People of Israel wait for the prophets will come soon Oze 6:2

When you take the mathematical equation for when sound becomes light, there are 7 points. Extend them out and you have a star...the star of David.
